Discriminating neutrino mass models using Type II seesaw formula

open access: yes, 2004
In this paper we propose a kind of natural selection which can discriminate the three possible neutrino mass models, namely the degenerate, inverted hierarchical and normal hierarchical models, using the framework of Type II seesaw formula.

Broad expertise retrieval in sparse data environments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Expertise retrieval has been largely unexplored on data other than the W3C collection. At the same time, many intranets of universities and other knowledge-intensive organisations offer examples of relatively small but clean multilingual expertise data ...

Effect of Chilling & B4C content on Machining Efficiency and Surface Quality in Wire-Cut Machining of Aluminum Matrix Chilled Composites [PDF]

open access: yesMechanics of Advanced Composite Structures
Conventional machining techniques struggle to effectively process these materials. To overcome these challenges, advanced methods like wire electric discharge machining (EDM) are being explored for cutting electrically conductive composites.

Influence of graphene coating in electrical discharge machining with an aluminum electrode

open access: yesJournal of the Mechanical Behavior of Materials, 2023
Since the cost of electrodes in electrical discharge machining (EDM) is usually too high, it leads to a significant increase in the production cost.

A unique family of Mrr-like modification-dependent restriction endonucleases [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2010
Mrr superfamily of homologous genes in microbial genomes restricts modified DNA in vivo. However, their biochemical properties in vitro have remained obscure. Here, we report the experimental characterization of MspJI, a remote homolog of Escherichia coli's Mrr and show it is a DNA modification-dependent restriction endonuclease.

Solvent‐Free Thermal Defect Engineering in Molecular Frameworks With Volatile Linkers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thermal removal of neutral volatile linkers enables precise and solvent‐free generation of metal vacancies in MOFs. This strategy affords redox‐stable, coordinatively unsaturated FeII sites with tunable spin, ligand coordination, and catalytic behavior. The approach offers a general route to design defect‐functional materials through local coordination

Listening between the Lines: Learning Personal Attributes from Conversations

open access: yes, 2019
Open-domain dialogue agents must be able to converse about many topics while incorporating knowledge about the user into the conversation. In this work we address the acquisition of such knowledge, for personalization in downstream Web applications, by ...

Long-term effects of automated mechanical peripheral stimulation on gait patterns of patients with Parkinson's disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
New treatments based on peripheral stimulation of the sensory–motor system have been inspiring new rehabilitation approaches in Parkinson’s disease (PD), especially to reduce gait impairment, levodopa washout effects, and the incidence of falls.

Estimation in regret-regression using quadratic inference functions with ridge estimator.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
In this paper, we propose a new estimation method in estimating optimal dynamic treatment regimes. The quadratic inference functions in myopic regret-regression (QIF-MRr) can be used to estimate the parameters of the mean response at each visit ...

Azaporphyrinoid‐Based Photo‐ and Electroactive Architectures for Advanced Functional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A long‐standing collaboration between the Torres and Guldi groups has yielded diverse azaporphyrinoid‐based donor‐acceptor nanohybrids with promising applications in solar energy conversion. This conspectus highlights key molecular platforms and structure‐function relationships that govern light and charge management, supporting the rational design of ...
