On MSE performance of time-reversal MUSIC

2014 IEEE 8th Sensor Array and Multichannel Signal Processing Workshop (SAM), 2014
In this paper we study the performance of time-reversal multiple signal classification (TR-MUSIC) for computational TR applications. The analysis builds upon classical results on first-order perturbation of singular value decomposition. The closed form of mean-squared error (MSE) matrix of TR-MUSIC is derived for a narrowband multistatic co-located ...

Infusing MSE Topics into Non-MSE Curricula: A Multidisciplinary Effort

MRS Proceedings, 2000
ABSTRACTFaculty members at the authors' institution are involved in multidisciplinary materials research through a National Science Foundation funded center. One goal of this center is to empower materials education through the incorporation of research outcomes into the undergraduate and graduate curricula.

Bootstrap for estimating the MSE of the Spatial EBLUP

Computational Statistics, 2008
Linear regression models with correlated random effects are considered for spatial data modeling. An empirical best linear unbiased predictor (EBLUP) and its mean square error (MSE) are discussed. Three approaches to EBLUP MSE estimation are considered: plug-in with analytic approximations, and parametric and nonparametric bootstrap.

Array interpolation and DOA MSE reduction

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2005
Interpolation or mapping of data from a given real array to data from a virtual array of more suitable geometry is well known in array signal processing. This operation allows arrays of any geometry to be used with fast direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimators designed for linear arrays. In an earlier companion paper , a first-order condition for zero DOA

MSE: A Methodology for Software Evolution

Journal of Software Maintenance: Research and Practice, 1997
SUMMARY Every program must continuously evolve, or it will become obsolete. This paper explores a methodology for software evolution within the setting of object-orientated programming. The methodology is based on the top‐down propagation of change, and it is remotely related to stepwise refinement. To present the methodology, this paper uses one small

A New MSE Curriculum

MRS Proceedings, 2004
AbstractThe MSE Department at MIT has developed a new undergraduate curriculum, and has imple- mented it for Sophomores in the 2003-2004 academic year. The Junior and Senior year curricula will be implemented as the current Sophomores advance. In addition to major core topic addi- tions such as biomaterials and computational modeling, the new ...
