An energetic nano-fiber composite based on polystyrene and 1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazinane fabricated via electrospinning technique

open access: yesDefence Technology, 2023
Electrospinning is a simple technique used to fabricate polymeric nano-fibrous membranes. These nano-fibers have found a wide range of valuable applications in the biomedical field. However, it has not been utilized with solid high explosives yet. Herein,

IGF-I influences everolimus activity in medullary thyroid carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Context: Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) is a rare tumor originating from thyroid parafollicular C cells. It has been previously demonstrated that insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) protects MTC from the effects of antiproliferative drugs. Everolimus,

A Simple Model of MTC in Smart Factories [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE INFOCOM 2018 - IEEE Conference on Computer Communications, 2018
In this paper we develop a simple, yet accurate, performance model to understand if and how evolutions of traditional cellular network protocols can be exploited to allow large numbers of devices to gain control of transmission resources in smart factory radio access networks.

Ultrasound features of medullary thyroid cancer as predictors of biological behavior

open access: yesCancer Imaging, 2021
Background Medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) has more aggressive behavior and poor prognosis. Ultrasound (US) has facilitated the qualitative diagnosis of thyroid nodules, however, some MTC may be diagnosed as a benign nodule on ultrasound because ...

The yeast RNA methylation complex consists of conserved yet reconfigured components with m6A-dependent and independent roles

open access: yeseLife, 2023
N6-methyladenosine (m6A), the most abundant mRNA modification, is deposited in mammals/insects/plants by m6A methyltransferase complexes (MTC) comprising a catalytic subunit and at least five additional proteins. The yeast MTC is critical for meiosis and

MTC

open access: yesProceedings of the 27th ACM SIGKDD Conference on Knowledge Discovery & Data Mining, 2021
Existing tensor completion formulation mostly relies on partial observations from a single tensor. However, tensors extracted from real-world data are often more complex due to: (i) Partial observation: Only a small subset (e.g., 5%) of tensor elements are available. (ii) Coarse observation: Some tensor modes only present coarse and aggregated patterns

Complications after medullary thyroid carcinoma surgery: multicentre study of the SQRTPA and EUROCRINE® databases

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), EarlyView., 2020
This study investigated postoperative complications after surgery for medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) in Europe. Hypoparathyroidism, recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy and bleeding requiring reoperation occurred in 170 (26·2 per cent), 62 (13·7 per cent) and 17 (2·6 per cent) patients respectively.
