An extensional Kleene realizability semantics for the Minimalist Foundation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We build a Kleene realizability semantics for the two-level Minimalist Foundation MF, ideated by Maietti and Sambin in 2005 and completed by Maietti in 2009.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Loading Surface in the Course of Mechanical- Thermal Treatment and Steady-State Creep of Metals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
: Kinetics of the loading surface of a material gives precious information on the level of the hardening of the material. This paper is concerned with the evolution of the loading surface during successive actions, such as: (i) plastic deformation, (ii)

Z' signals in polarised top-antitop final states

open access: yes, 2012
We study the sensitivity of top-antitop samples produced at all energy stages of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to the nature of an underlying Z' boson, in presence of full tree level standard model (SM) background effects and relative interferences. We

Dapagliflozin prevents methylglyoxal‐induced retinal cell death in ARPE‐19 cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Diabetic macular oedema is a diabetes complication of the eye, which may lead to permanent blindness. ARPE‐19 are human retinal cells used to study retinal diseases and potential therapeutics. Methylglyoxal is a compound increased in uncontrolled diabetes due to elevated blood glucose.

Relationships between climate and winter cereal grain quality in Finland and their potential for forecasting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Many studies have demonstrated the effects of climate on cereal yield, but there has been little work carried out examining the relationships between climate and cereal grain quality on a national scale.

Anchorage‐independent and faster growth in clonal population from UV‐irradiated NER‐deficient cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UV‐irradiated cells expressing a DDB2 mutant protein unable to interact with PCNA (DDB2PCNA‐) form clones able to grow without anchorage. Different experimental approaches reveal heterogeneity in cell cycle regulation and drug response within these clones, emphasizing the crucial role of the DDB2‐PCNA interaction in preventing cellular transformation ...

From Tevatron's top and lepton-based asymmetries to the LHC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We define a lepton-based asymmetry in semi-leptonic ttbar production at the LHC. We show that the ratio of this lepton-based asymmetry and the ttbar charge asymmetry, measured as a function of the lepton transverse momentum or the ttbar invariant mass is

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Phosphorus and faecal bacteria in runoff from horse paddocks and their mitigation by the addition of P-sorbing materials

open access: yesAgricultural and Food Science, 2012
The growing popularity of horse keeping is accompanied by an increase of phosphorus (P) and faecal micro-organisms from outdoor paddocks. We used an indoor rainfall simulation to monitor  concentrations of dissolved reactive P (DRP) and faecal coliforms ...
