Genetic parameters for carcass weight, conformation and fat in five beef cattle breeds

open access: yesAnimal, 2015
Profitability of beef production can be increased by genetically improving carcass traits. To construct breeding value evaluations for carcass traits, breed-specific genetic parameters were estimated for carcass weight, carcass conformation and carcass ...

Effects of Higgs sector CP violation in top-quark pair production at the LHC [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
A striking manifestation of CP violation in the electroweak symmetry breaking sector would be the existence of neutral Higgs boson(s) with undefined CP parity.

Implications of effective axial-vector coupling of gluon for $t\bar{t}$ spin polarizations at the LHC

open access: yes, 2013
We analyze the impact of effective axial-vector coupling of the gluon on spin polarization observables in $t\bar{t}$ pair production at the LHC. Working at leading order in QCD, we compute the $t\bar{t}$ spin-correlation and left-right spin asymmetry ...

Marginally trapped tubes and dynamical horizons

open access: yes, 2005
We investigate the generic behaviour of marginally trapped tubes (roughly time-evolved apparent horizons) using simple, spherically symmetric examples of dust and scalar field collapse/accretion onto pre-existing black holes.

Organelle Localization‐Induced Bio‐Orthogonal Polymerization (OLIBOP) for Photostable Super‐Resolution Live‐Cell Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Organelle localization‐induced biorthogonal polymerization enables direct synthesis of photostable poly‐AIEgens within targeted organelles for super‐resolution live‐cell imaging. ABSTRACT Real‐time monitoring of dynamic biological processes demands fluorescent probes that can withstand prolonged light exposure without photobleaching—a critical ...

Structural development and regional concentration of agriculture in Finland in 1975–2008

open access: yesAgricultural and Food Science, 2012
This article analyses structural and regional development and concentration of agriculture in terms of jobs and value of production, here value added, in Finland during 1975–2008 based on statistical and georeferenced data.

The genetic analysis of tolerance to infections: A review

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2012
Tolerance to infections is defined as the ability of a host to limit the impact of a given pathogen burden on host performance. Uncoupling resistance and tolerance is a challenge, and there is a need to be able to separate them using specific trait ...

Bump-hunting in LHC ttbar events

open access: yes, 2016
We demonstrate that a purposefully normalised NNLO top pair invariant mass differential spectrum can have very small theoretical uncertainty and, in particular, a small sensitivity to the top quark mass.

Design and Synthesis of Peptide‐Polyester Conjugates for Cell‐Mediated Scaffold Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work describes polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based biomaterials engineered to degrade in response to cell‐secreted proteases. A fast‐degrading peptide (Fast) sequence is integrated into a PCL conjugate backbone to produce a biomaterial that is selectively degraded by multiple cell types compared to its scrambled control (ScrFast).
