A MU-MIMO CQI Estimation Method for MU-MIMO UEs in LTE Systems

2012 IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Fall), 2012
This paper addresses a method to estimate the multi user channel quality indicator (CQI) from the reported rank 1 single user CQI in LTE systems. We investigate the relationship between the multi user CQI and the channel condition. Based on that, we propose an updating mechanism where the estimated multi user CQI is varied according to the reported ...

Grassmannian precoding MU-MIMO scheme

The Journal of China Universities of Posts and Telecommunications, 2008
In this article, a Grassmannian precoding multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) scheme for downlink transmission is proposed. The proposed MU-MIMO scheme will perform scheduling and precoding simultaneously at the base station, to obtain both the multiuser diversity gain and the precoding gain, to maximize the system capacity.

Coverage Analysis of Downlink MU-MIMO Cellular Networks

IEEE Communications Letters, 2021
In this letter, we analyze the coverage performance of multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) downlink cellular networks. We model the locations of the base stations and mobile users using Poisson Point Processes and employ maximum ratio transmission precoding at the base station.

Practical MU-MIMO experiments using SDRs

2017 IEEE Conference on Computer Communications Workshops (INFOCOM WKSHPS), 2017
This paper provides an overview of a testbed created using software defined radios (SDRs) for a Multi-User MIMO experiment, with guidelines for extension for similar experiments. We perform our experiments in ORBIT grid with multiple USRPs. The proposed experiment can be easily recreated using multiple USRPs and Octoclock-G to achieve synchronization ...

Security in Uplink MU-MIMO Networks

Proceedings of the Second International Conference on Internet-of-Things Design and Implementation, 2017
Multiple-In-Multiple-Out (MIMO) offers great potential for increasing network capacity by exploiting spatial diversity with multiple antennas. Multiuser MIMO (MU-MIMO) further enables Access Points (APs) with multiple antennas to transmit multiple data streams concurrently to several clients. However, the uplink data transmission (from client to AP) of

Field Measurements of Uplink MU-MIMO

2014 IEEE 79th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Spring), 2014
Abstract - In order to identify the technology potential of uplink MU-MIMO, Ericsson developed the LTE TDD test bed according to 3GPP Release 8 specification with simplified MMSE receiver and scheduling schemes. The implemented simplified MMSE receiver can significantly reduce the computation complexity with the restriction that the dominant ...

Optimizing CSI Feedback for MU-MIMO: Tradeoffs in Channel Correlation, User Diversity and MU-MIMO Efficiency

2011 IEEE 73rd Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Spring), 2011
Multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) is seen as one of the key technologies for 4G communications systems. A critical factor affecting the throughput gains provided by MU-MIMO is the feedback mechanism that allows the transmitting basestation to periodically receive channel state information (CSI) from mobiles.

The case for UHF-band MU-MIMO

Proceedings of the 20th annual international conference on Mobile computing and networking, 2014
While the UHF band exhibits superior propagation characteristics compared to other frequency bands used for broadband communications, limited spectral availability in time and space necessitates high spectral efficiency techniques such as Multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO). In this paper we design and implement the first open MU-MIMO Software-Defined Radio (SDR)
