Empathic Traits Modulate Oscillatory Dynamics Revealed by Time–Frequency Analysis During Body Language Reading

open access: yesBrain Sciences
Empathy has been linked to enhanced processing of social information, yet the neurophysiological correlates of such individual differences remain underexplored.

Sfermion masses in Nelson-Strassler type of models: SUSY standard models coupled with SCFTs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We study soft SUSY breaking parameters in the Nelson-Strassler type of models: SUSY standard models coupled with SCFTs. In this type of models, soft SUSY breaking parameters including sfermion masses can be suppressed around the decoupling scale of SCFTs.

Observation of the suppressed decay Lambda(0)(b) -> p pi(-) mu(+) mu(-)

open access: yes, 2017
The suppressed decay Lambda(0)(b) -> p pi(-) mu(+) mu(-), excluding the J/psi and psi(2S) -> mu(+) mu(-) resonances, is observed for the first time with a significance of 5.5 standard deviations. The analysis is performed with proton- proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1) collected with the LHCb experiment.

Phenomenological and Physically Based Modeling of Flow Stress and Strengthening Mechanism of Inconel 718

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nickel‐based alloys are widely used in high‐temperature applications due to their excellent mechanical strength and oxidation resistance. However, properties such as high‐temperature strength and pronounced work‐hardening make them difficult to machine.

SYK Model, Chaos and Conserved Charge

open access: yes, 2017
We study the SYK model with complex fermions, in the presence of an all-to-all $q$-body interaction, with a non-vanishing chemical potential. We find that, in the large $q$ limit, this model can be solved exactly and the corresponding Lyapunov exponent ...

Experimental demonstration of a novel heterogeneously integrated III-V on Si microlaser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this work we present the first experimental demonstration of a novel class of heterogeneously integrated III-V-on-silicon microlasers. We first show that by coupling a silicon cavity to a III-V wire, the interaction between the propagating mode in the

Some markers of mirroring appear intact in schizophrenia: evidence from mu suppression [PDF]

open access: yesCognitive, Affective, & Behavioral Neuroscience, 2014
Although schizophrenia is associated with impairments in social cognition, the scope and neural correlates of these disturbances are largely unknown. In this study, we investigated whether schizophrenia patients show impaired functioning of the mirror neuron system (MNS), as indexed by electroencephalographic (EEG) mu (8-13 Hz) suppression, a ...

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

An origin for small neutrino masses in the NMSSM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We consider the Next to Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (NMSSM) which provides a natural solution to the so-called mu problem by introducing a new gauge-singlet superfield S.

Time‐Dependent Oxidation and Scale Evolution of a Wrought Co/Ni‐Based Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows how a new wrought Co/Ni‐based superalloy resists oxidation at 800 ∘$^\circ$C. The oxide scale changes from rough, fast‐growing spinel to a dense, protective chromia–alumina layer. Atom probe analysis reveals tiny refractory‐rich bubbles at the interface that mark the transition to long‐term, diffusion‐controlled protection ...
