Dynamics Near the Inner Dead-Zone Edges in a Proprotoplanetary Disk [PDF]

open access: yes
We perform three-dimensional global non-ideal magnetohydrodynamic simulations of a protoplanetary disk containing the inner dead-zone edge. We take into account realistic diffusion coefficients of the Ohmic resistivity and ambipolar diffusion based on detailed chemical reactions with single-size dust grains.

A Study of Lightning Activity over Different Ecological Zones of Nepal [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
In the present work, occurrence of lightning activity over different ecological zones of Nepal has been studied. It has been observed that Lower Tropical zone receives lightning strikes with largest value of density of strikes whereas the Trans-Himalayan zone receives lightning strikes with least value of density of strikes.

First Report of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) Outbreak in the West Bank, Palestine: Molecular Characterization of Coxsackievirus A16 (CV‐A16)

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Introduction: Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is a mild self‐limited childhood infectious disease caused by a variety of enteroviruses (EVs). Aim: To investigate the molecular epidemiology of EVs associated with HFMD and their clinical presentation during the HFMD outbreak that occurred in the Jenin district, Palestine, from May to August 2024 ...

Stacked Multilevel Fresnel Zone Plates for Hard X-Rays [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
The new type of multilevel Fresnel zone plate, consisting of stacked layers with bi-level zone profile has been investigated. The conditions of layers acting as single multilevel Fresnel zone plate have been discussed by numerical simulation. The criteria for layers alignment have been presented.

Anterior Uveitis and Uveal Depigmentation in a Dog With Vitiligo

open access: yesCase Reports in Veterinary Medicine, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Objective: The objective of this study is to describe the clinical and histologic features of a dog that developed anterior uveitis and uveal depigmentation in association with vitiligo. Animal Studied: A 3‐year‐old, female‐spayed, Bernese Mountain Dog with a history of bilateral idiopathic anterior uveitis developed iris depigmentation, leukotrichia ...

Inferring Microclimate Zones from Energy Consumption Data [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Climate zones are an established part of urban energy management. California is divided into 16 climate zones, for example, and each zone imposes different energy-related building standards -- so for example different zones have different roofing standards. Although developed long ago, these zones continue to shape urban policy.

On the Radial Structure of Radiatively Inefficient Accretion Flows with Convection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We consider the radial structure of radiatively inefficient hydrodynamic accretion flows around black holes. We show that low-viscosity flows consist of two zones: an outer convection-dominated zone and an inner advection-dominated zone. The transition between these two zones occurs at ~50 Schwarzschild radii.

Monkeypox: Origin, Transmission, Clinical Manifestations, Prevention, and Therapeutic Options

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Perspectives on Infectious Diseases, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Monkeypox is a rapidly spreading transmissible disease induced by the monkeypox virus (MPXV), a major public health problem worldwide. The origin of monkeypox might be tracked to the continent of Africa, where it first afflicted primate species prior to spreading to the world.

Turbulent stress within dead zones and magnetic field dragging induced by Rossby vortices [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
By means of three dimensional resistive-magnetohydrodynamical models, we study the evolution of the so-called dead zones focused on the magnitude of the Reynolds and Maxwell stresses. We consider two different types of static resistivity radial profiles which give rise to an intermediate dead zone or an intermediate active zone. As we are interested in

Performance of Extracellular Vesicles From Leishmania (Leishmania) infantum for Serological Diagnosis of Human and Canine Visceral Leishmaniasis

open access: yesJournal of Parasitology Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is a zoonotic disease in which dogs are the main reservoirs. Until now, the serological tests do not present satisfactory sensitivity for diagnosis of these hosts. One of the functions of extracellular vesicles (EVs) is related to immunological host response.
