A Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma of the Minor Salivary Gland in the Tongue: A Case Report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A mucoepidermoid carcinoma originating from the minor salivary gland is rare. In this report, a case of mucoepidermoid carcinoma arising in the tongue is described. A 57-year-old man visited our hospital complaining of haphalgesia of the tongue.

Docetaxel for High-Grade Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma of the Lung

open access: yesJournal of Cancer Research and Practice, 2015
Mucoepidermoid carcinoma is considered to be one of the salivary gland-type cancers, which seldom originate from the lung. Herein, we report a 69-year-old female with primary pulmonary high-grade mucoepidermoid carcinoma.

Establishment of Salivary Gland Tumors Arising in Salivary Gland‐Specific EWSR1::ATF1 Transgenic Mice

open access: yesHead &Neck, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Salivary gland carcinomas are uncommon malignancies with various histological subtypes harboring fusion genes. The EWSR1::ATF1 fusion gene, resulting from a translocation between chromosomes 12 and 22, is frequently observed in hyalinizing clear cell carcinoma (HCCC). However, the role of this fusion gene in HCCC oncogenesis remains

Mucoepidermoid carcinoma mimicking a soft tissue sarcoma: a case report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We describe a case that initially presented to the oncology unit as what seemed like a soft tissue sarcoma arising from the thigh. Biopsy of this mass showed that it was a mucoepidermoid carcinoma. This is a very rare presentation of a non-salivary gland

Evaluation of Systemic Inflammatory Markers in Predicting Malignancy in Parotid Gland Tumors

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Preoperative systemic inflammatory indices may assist in distinguishing benign from malignant parotid tumors. In this cohort of 259 patients undergoing parotidectomy, malignant tumors were associated with higher neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (PLR) values, as well as larger tumor size and older age.

Nasopharyngeal mucoepidermoid carcinoma with mastermind-like transcriptional coactivator 2 translocation: A case report and comprehensive literature review of a rare entity

open access: yesSAGE Open Medical Case Reports
Mucoepidermoid carcinoma is one of the most common malignant tumors in salivary glands and is usually associated with mastermind-like transcriptional coactivator 2 (MAML2) rearrangement.

Kallikrein-related peptidase 10 expression in salivary gland tissues and tumours

open access: yesThe International Journal of Biological Markers, 2012
Objectives Kallikrein-related peptidase 10 (KLK10) has been implicated in the development of several types of cancer. The purpose of this study was to analyze the expression of KLK10 in 3 types of salivary gland tumour and normal salivary glands ...

Transoral Robotic Resection of Pediatric Tongue Base Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Transoral robotic surgery (TORS) offers a precise, minimally invasive approach for the management of rare pediatric tongue base malignancies. Intraoperative visualization demonstrates accurate tumor delineation and controlled resection, while postoperative findings confirm effective oncologic clearance with preservation of surrounding structures.

Cetuximab in the treatment of metastatic mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the salivary glands: A case report and review of literature

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2008
Introduction Patients with metastatic mucoepidermoid carcinoma of salivary glands have a poor outcome. The epidermal growth factor receptor protein is overexpressed in approximately 70% of mucoepidermoid carcinoma patients and may represent a therapeutic
