Helicostylum and Thamnostylum (Mucorales)
Mycologia, 1973Comparative study of several taxa classified in Helicostylum suggests that the genus is comprised of species having different relationships. Accordingly, two genera are recognized.

Antifungal combinations in Mucorales: A microbiological perspective
Mycoses, 2019SummaryMucormycosis mostly affects immunocompromised patients and is associated with a high morbidity and mortality despite currently available treatments. In that context, combination therapy might be the key to a better outcome for these patients. Purpose of this review is to summarise and to discuss the current combination data obtained in vitro, in

Ultrastructure of the sporangiospore of Piptocephalis unispora (Mucorales)
Archives of Microbiology, 1975Sporangiospore structure in Piptocephalis unispora Benjamin was studied using light microscopy, freeze-etching, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, and compared with that of other members of the Mucorales. A merosporangial wall, plasmalemmal invaginations, and wall protuberances were demonstrated in sections and their possible significance ...

Stress response in medically important Mucorales
Mycoses, 2016SummaryMucorales are saprobes, ubiquitously distributed and able to infect a heterogeneous population of human hosts. The fungi require robust stress responses to survive in human host. We tested the growth of Mucorales in the presence of different abiotic stress. Eight pathogenic species of Mucorales, including Rhizopus arrhizus, Rhizopus microsporus,

The soil from Patharia collected in October was somewhat moist. Samples were taken from a depth of about 4" with the help of a sterile spatula, packed in sterile containers and brought to the laboratory. Preliminary isolations were made in Petri dishes with plain agar, Waksman's agar (Waksman 1927) and potato-dextrose-agar using the dilution technique (

An investigation of the Mucorales in the soil
2018This first study revealed twenty -three species of the Mucorales occurring in seven soil types and from these results it has been shown that there is no specific distribution in the soils investigated. A full account of the research has been published in the Trans. Roy. Soc. Edinburgh, vol:lix, 2, N° 16, Sept. 1928, pp. 411-436.

Abundant growth occurs on many of the standard media such as malt agar, oatmeal agar, cornmeal agar, and YpSs medium (Emerson, 1958). Sporangia were obtained on Leonian's medium (Leonian, 1924), melanin formation medium (Waksman, 1961), and on boiled hemp seed in distilled water at temperatures ranging from 20 to 28 C.

[Infection by Mucorales fungi].
Enfermedades infecciosas y microbiologia clinica, 1992Mucormycosis is a rare opportunistic fungal infection of immunosuppressed patients. We describe here 5 cases of mucormycosis: three with facial and eye involvement, one with lung involvement and one affecting skin and joints. All five patients had underlying diseases: diabetes, leukemia, lymphoma, neoplasia and AIDS.
