ABSTRACT Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a complex disorder characterized by chronic intestinal inflammation and impaired barrier function, for which effective long‐term therapies remain elusive. To address this challenge, we developed a novel nano‐vaccine that combines Prussian blue nanozymes (PBNZs) adjuvants with a ferritin carrier loaded with ...

Enhanced Histopathology of Mucosa-Associated Lymphoid Tissue [PDF]
The secretory epithelial surfaces of the body are a major route of entry for potentially pathogenic substances. The organized mucosal lymphoid tissues that are found within the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts are therefore particularly important as a first line of defense against harmful compounds. The major function of these mucosa-associated

A randomised phase I study of etrolizumab (rhuMAb β7) in moderate to severe ulcerative colitis. [PDF]
ObjectiveEtrolizumab (rhuMAb β7, anti-β7, PRO145223) is a humanised monoclonal antibody targeting the β7 subunit of the heterodimeric integrins α4β7 and αEβ7, which are implicated in leucocyte migration and retention in ulcerative colitis (UC).

In advanced colorectal cancer, tumors with mature tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) exhibited abundant infiltration of CD3‐ and CD8‐positive lymphocytes in both primary and metastatic sites, indicating an activated immune response. The presence of mature TLS was also associated with favorable chemotherapy sensitivity and improved prognosis.

Histopathology of the gut in rheumatic diseases [PDF]
The gastrointestinal tract regulates the trafficking of macromolecules between the environment and the host through an epithelial barrier mechanism and is an important part of the immune system controlling the equilibrium between tolerance and immunity ...

This review explains how biomaterials and nanoparticles can be used to induce or modulate tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs), which are ectopic immune hubs that form in nonlymphoid tissues during chronic disease and cancer. By comparing different methods, the article highlights design principles for modeling TLSs or recapitulating specific TLS ...
