Vibration monitoring at drill-bit and its correlation with downhole mechanical specific energy (MSE)

open access: yesGeomechanics and Geophysics for Geo-Energy and Geo-Resources
Drill-bit vibrations are a part of rock fracturing and breaking in the drilling process, are potentially harmful to equipment, yet provide valuable insights about drilling dynamics and formation properties.

The Consequences of Soil Organic Carbon for Crop Yield, Farm Productivity and Profit

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Crop choices affect soil organic carbon (SOC) stocks, allowing farmers to manipulate the amount of carbon sequestered in the soil over time. This paper examines the private and public benefits of crop rotations that sequester additional carbon across the province of Saskatchewan, Canada using a novel field‐level dataset from the Saskatchewan ...

Long-term durability of red mud-modified cement mortars: Effects of high temperature and freeze-thaw cycles

open access: yes
The use of industrial by-products such as red mud in cementitious materials addresses sustainability by reducing environmental impact and improving performance. As a hazardous waste from aluminium production, red mud offers a promising solution for waste

Brittle Structural Control and Fluid Progress of the Jinqingding Gold Deposit: Implications for Epizonal Gold Mineralization

open access: yesActa Geologica Sinica - English Edition, EarlyView.
High‐grade orebodies are controlled by stress field with σ1 oriented NE‐SW during the main mineralization stage.Inferred NEE‐trending strike‐slip fault control another orebody distribution. ABSTRACT The Jinqingding gold deposit in eastern Jiaodong is a significant gold mineralization within the Muping–Rushan metallogenic belt.

Adaptive Minimum Symbol-Error-Rate CDMA Linear Multiuser Detector for Pulse-Amplitude Modulation

open access: yes, 2003
An adaptive minimum symbol error rate (MSER) linear multiuser detector (MUD) is proposed for direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems employing multilevel pulse-amplitude modulation ($M$-PAM) scheme.

Bridging the Late Antique Gap in Northwest Arabia: New Archaeological Evidence on the Occupation of Wādī al‐Qurā (al‐ʿUlā [AlUla], Saudi Arabia) Between the Third and Seventh Centuries CE

open access: yesArabian Archaeology and Epigraphy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In 2019, the Dadan Archaeological Project (CNRS/RCU/AFALULA) identified a Late Antique village 1 km south of ancient Dadan in the al‐ʿUlā valley (northwest Saudi Arabia). Three excavation seasons at this site (2021–2023) have uncovered a massive building constructed in the late third or early fourth cent.

The Late Agricultural Development of Central Arabian Oases—Archaeobotanical and Archaeozoological Studies of the al‐Kharj Oasis

open access: yesArabian Archaeology and Epigraphy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT While oasis settlements emerged during the Bronze Age in Eastern and Northern Arabia, the settlement process in Central Arabia was different. Excavations at al‐Yamāma—main ancient settlement of the al‐Kharj oasis (Riyadh Province, KSA)—suggest that the latter did not emerge before the second half of the first millennium BCE.

Short-lived mud volcanism and cold seeps caused by dissociation of gas hydrates in Lake Baikal

open access: yes, 2001
Four cold seeps are studied in Lake Baikal’s South Basin using side scan sonar in combination with detailed bathymetry, measurements of near-bottom water properties, and selected seismic profiles. The cold seeps occur at the crest of a fault block in the

Harvesting benefits: Exploring the effects of second‐best policies on enhancing soil organic carbon stocks in agriculture

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Agricultural subsidies can be an effective policy tool to enhance soil organic carbon sequestration. This paper assesses the effectiveness of a second‐best hypothetical policy which subsidizes additional canola hectares optimally for each soil zone in Saskatchewan in an effort to increase soil organic carbon.
