Development on Fast Carrier Synchronizer for Continuous Wave Mud Pulse Telemetry

2023 5th International Conference on Intelligent Control, Measurement and Signal Processing (ICMSP), 2023
A fast carrier synchronizer with adaptive loop bandwidth is proposed for continuous-wave mud pulse telemetry systems, designed to achieve rapid carrier phase recovery and minimal steady-state phase jitter.

The behavior of mud pulse signals in drill pipes

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1996
The MWD (measuring while drilling) system, which transmits information such as temperature, pressure, direction, and inclination at the bottom of the hole to the surface of the earth while drilling, is used and is underdeveloped as a higher temperature version, but it was hoped that it would be more efficient in the oil fields and the geothermal fields

Reliable High-speed Mud Pulse Telemetry

SPE/IADC Drilling Conference and Exhibition, 2015
Abstract Mud pulse telemetry (MPT) has been the dominant measurement-while-drilling (MWD) data transmission technology for more than three decades. Continuous development has enabled the oil and gas industry to drill deep and complex well paths and deliver valuable real-time measurements. With the advent of recent logging-while-drilling (

Measurement-While-Drilling Mud Pulse Detection Process: An Investigation of Matched Filter Responses to Simulated and Real Mud Pressure Pulses

Proceedings of Petroleum Computer Conference, 1988
ABSTRACT A study was performed for the purpose of evaluating various methods of signal (MWD mud pulse) detection in the presence of simulated and real noise. The performance of rectangular and double exponential matched filter correlators was determined using simulated pulses in the presence of band limited gaussian noise and coherent ...

Highly Flexible Mud-Pulse Telemetry: A New System

SPE Indian Oil and Gas Technical Conference and Exhibition, 2008
Abstract Mud Pulse Telemetry (MPT) systems enable the MWD/LWD companies to transmit to surface valuable directional and formation data during the drilling process. This data is used to optimize the drilling process, making drilling operations more cost efficient and allowing the drilling of more complex wells.

Pulsed oil discharge from a mud volcano

Geology, 2000
In this paper we document instances where change in the magnitude of natural oil seepage coincided with fluctuations of fluid temperature in a seafloor mud volcano. Oil slicks were detected floating near commercial oil fields in the northern Gulf of Mexico in a time series of six satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images collected over a 10 month

Noise cancellation for continuous wave mud pulse signal based on Bi-ConvLSTM

Cybersecurity and Cyberforensics Conference, 2022
Mud pulse telemetry technique is a common method of data transmission used in measurement while drilling (MWD). During the data upload process, the continuous wave mud pulse signal received on the ground is completely covered by noise due to interference

Research on Denoising Method of Mud Pulse Signal Based On Adaptive Coefficient Kalman

2022 3rd Asia Symposium on Signal Processing (ASSP), 2022
The surface mud pressure pulse signal based on the Measurement While Drilling (MWD) system is interfered with by pump noise and random noise. Even the pump noise not only completely covers the useful pulse signal in the time domain but also exists band ...

Research on MWD mud pulse signal extraction and recognition

2011 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation, 2011
The well bottom data real time has been transmitted through mud pulse signal in Wireless Measurement Drilling(MWD). The ground of the decoding system to the mud pulse signal detection and identification is the core of the measurement while drilling.
