Significance of serpentine mud volcanism in convergent margins
2000Serpentinites are distinctive components of on-land exposures of former convergent-margin terranes throughout the world, commonly mingled with high-pressure, low-temperature blueschist-facies metamorphic rocks in complexmelange assemblages that have long perplexed geologists.

On the probability of cryogenic mud volcanism on Titan
Solar System Research, 2008Juxtaposing images of the surface of Titan made by the Huygens probe and photos of the mud volcano region on Earth (the Taman peninsula, the Caucasus) reveals similar geomorphologic features. This has led us to suggest the existence of cryogenic mud-volcanic activity on Titan.

Mud volcanism and mud breccia clasts: how did they reach the surface?
Mud volcanism is a geological phenomenon broadly diffused in active and passive tectonic settings and it is typically associated with petroleum systems. The mechanisms driving this process are the overpressure resulting from the generation of hydrocarbons at depth combined with the gravitative instability (e.g., shale buoyancy and density inversion) ofMarlysa Vivier +3 more
