Refining the timing of Middle Pleistocene (MIS 12 to MIS 6) ice advances into northern central Europe: sedimentological analysis and single‐grain luminescence dating of glaciotectonic complexes and tunnel‐valley fills

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
We summarize the current state of knowledge on the age of the Middle Pleistocene ice advances into northern central Europe and provide 25 new single‐grain feldspar luminescence ages of Elsterian and Saalian glacigenic sediments to constrain the age of the ice advances and their tentative correlation with marine isotope stages/substages.

Droughts and human impact in the ancient Uaymil region of the Maya lowlands inferred from a 2800‐year sedimentary archive at Lake Kaná, Mexico

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
The relationship between the climate and societal transformation in Maya lowlands has long been debated, particularly the role of drought in shaping the civilization trajectory during the Classic Period. A high‐resolution, multi‐proxy, geochemical record from Lake Kaná, located in the underexplored Uaymil region of the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico ...

RESEARCH OF PYRITES FROM EJECTIONS OF MUD VOLCANOES OF AZERBAIJAN

open access: yesГеологія і корисні копалини Світового океану, 2019
Pyrite is one of the widespread sulfide minerals of the mud volcanoes of Azerbaijan. A characteristic feature of these pyrites is the scarcity of their crystalline forms. Only in some volcanic products its fairly cubic, cubicoctahedral crystals be found)

Chironomid‐based summer temperature reconstruction of the Eemian–Weichselian transition at Lichtenberg, northern Germany

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Understanding the temperature variability of past interglacial cycles is essential to predict future climates. We present a new summer temperature reconstruction, based on the subfossil chironomid record from a small palaeolake adjacent to the Middle Palaeolithic site of Lichtenberg, northern Germany. The record spans from the Saalian late glacial over

Towards an ‘absolute’ timing of biostratigraphic and environmental phases from the Saalian late glacial to the Weichselian pleniglacial in central Europe—Insights from a lacustrine succession in Lichtenberg, northern Germany

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Palynological records are central to the biostratigraphic subdivision of the Late Pleistocene in central Europe. Yet many interglacial and interstadial phases—such as the Eemian, Brörup and Odderade—remain only poorly constrained in time due to limited numerical dating.

Dissolved organic matter from submarine mud volcanoes (Gulf of Cádiz, Spain)

open access: yes, 2021
In this study, the use of spectrofluorometric technique was used for the first time to assess the dynamics of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in mud volcanoes in the Gulf of Cadiz.

Mantle origin of methane in the Black Sea

open access: yesГеофизический журнал, 2018
A new distribution map of gas seeps and mud volcanoes has been compiled of the Black Sea. It has been derived from the published coordinates for ca. 5000 gas seeps and 80 mud volcanoes.

The ”Salse di Nirano” mud volcanoes: hints from gravity data

open access: yes, 2023
Mud volcanoes are distributed throughout the globe, both on- and offshore. Mud volcanism has been widely investigated from the geological, geophysical, and geochemical points of view.

Imaging Point Source Groundwater Discharges in a Confined Coastal Aquifer Using Electrical Resistivity

open access: yesGroundwater, EarlyView.
Marine electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) is applied to characterize point‐source submarine groundwater discharge (PSGD) along NW Yucatán. ERT observations and forward modeling constrain conduit detectability under varying hydrogeological conditions.
