Mullerian adenosarcomas (MAs) are rare mixed mesenchymal and epithelial neoplasms that occur most commonly in the uterus. Although the epithelial component is typically benign, the mesenchymal component of most adenosarcomas morphologically resembles that observed in endometrial stromal tumors and is responsible for their clinical behavior.

The paper describes a case of mullerian adenosarcoma of the uterus. The patient, a 58-year old postmenopausal woman, presented with atypical vaginal bleeding and enlarged uterus. A total hysterectomy was performed. The intrauterine mass measured 10 cm in largest diameter and had bossolated surface and 2 pedicles of 3 and 4 mm each.

Uterine mullerian adenosarcoma following adenomyoma in a woman on tamoxifen therapy

The clinical and pathologic findings in a 53-year-old woman who developed a uterine adenosarcoma following an adenomyoma are described. During the interval between the diagnosis of adenomyoma and the subsequent diagnosis of adenosarcoma, the patient developed breast carcinoma and received adjuvant chemotherapy that included tamoxifen.

Mullerian adenosarcoma of the uterine cervix.

Two cases of mullerian adenosarcoma with heterologous elements which occurred in uterine cervix and had a gross appearance of sarcoma botyroides are reported. Histologically, the tumours were composed of an admixture of benign appearing glands and a sarcomatous stroma, with heterologous elements consisting of skeletal muscle, bone and cartilage.
