Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Mullerian Duct Anomalies of the Uterus

Topics in Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 2003
Congenital uterine anomalies (mullerian duct anomalies) comprise a spectrum of developmental malformations associated with varying degrees of adverse reproductive outcomes. Although traditionally diagnosed by hysterosalpingography or ultrasound, further elaboration of the findings frequently was performed with laparoscopy/laparotomy and hysteroscopy ...

Adolescent abdominal pain due to rare mullerian duct anomaly

The American Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2022
Abdominal pain is a common presenting complaint to the Emergency Department (ED). Often, rare etiologies can be discovered in the work up of this common complaint. Here we present the case of an adolescent female who presented with abdominal pain and was found to have obstructed hemivagina and ipsilateral renal anomaly (OHVIRA) or Herlyn-Werner ...

Mullerian duct anomalies: MR imaging

Abdominal Imaging, 2011
Mullerian duct anomalies (MDAs) are rare, affecting approximately 1% of all women and about 3% of women with poor reproductive outcomes. These congenital anomalies usually result from one of the following categories of abnormalities of the mullerian ducts: failure of formation (no development or underdevelopment) or failure of fusion of the mullerian ...

Association of Renal Agenesis and Mullerian Duct Anomalies

Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, 2000
The purpose of this work was to determine the association of renal agenesis with the different types of mullerian duct anomalies (MDAs).A 5 year retrospective review of MR records identified 57 patients with MDAs. Associated renal anomalies were correlated with the various types of MDAs.Renal agenesis was found in 17 (29.8%) of 57 patients.

Associated Anomalies of Mullerian and Wolffian Duct Structures

Southern Medical Journal, 1981
Over a ten-year period, we identified 457 patients with renal or uterine anomalies. Only 12 of 55 patients with anomalies of mullerian development had an intravenous pyelogram, which revealed an associated renal anomaly in five. Conversely, only two of 21 women with renal anomalies had a gynecologic evaluation; one of them had a bicornuate uterus ...

Müllerian Duct Anomalies: Imaging and Clinical Issues

Radiology, 2004
While estimates of the frequency of müllerian duct anomalies vary widely owing to different patient populations, nonstandardized classification systems, and differences in diagnostic data acquisition, these anomalies are clinically important, particularly in women who present with infertility.
