Preparation and Properties of High Sound-Absorbing Porous Ceramics Reinforced by In Situ Mullite Whisker from Construction Waste [PDF]
Porous sound absorption ceramic is one of the most promising materials for effectively eliminating noise pollution. However, its high production cost and low mechanical strength limit its practical applications. In this work, low-cost and in situ mullite

Application of Whisker-Toughened Aerogel to Recycling of Used Polyurethane Sheets [PDF]
In this study, a new environmentally friendly and efficient method for recycling and reusing waste polyurethane sheets is proposed. SiO2 aerogel was prepared using the sol–gel method, and mullite whiskers were introduced to enhance its toughness.

Twice‐Functionalized Montmorillonite Nanosheets for Polymer‐Derived MMT‐SiOC Nanocomposites: Phase Formation and Porosity [PDF]
Novel MMT‐SiOC ceramic nanocomposites are prepared. At 900°C and 1200°C, growth and refinement of a crystalline α‐SiO2 phase on the MMT nanoflakes led to 2 to 5 nm pores upon etching. The size of the SiO2 domains appeared to be diffusion‐limited by turbostratic C phases in the SiOC matrix.

Toughening effect of mullite whisker within low-density ceramic proppants
Main crystal phases of low-density ceramic proppants prepared by bauxite and feldspar are granular corundum and whisker-shaped mullite. Mullite whiskers are interlocked with one another and piled up inside the pores. High aspect ratio of mullite whiskers

Microstructural Analyses of Salt‐Glazed Ceramics
ABSTRACT Defining features of certain salt‐glazed studio pottery are a surface texture akin to orange peel, with mm‐scale dimples across the ware, and fine‐scale cracking within the salt glaze. There is remarkably little information in the scientific literature to explain the reasons for the formation of the orange peel effect or to specify the length ...
