Neurobiology of value integration: when value impacts valuation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Everyday choice options have advantages (positive values) and disadvantages (negative values) that need to be integrated into an overall subjective value.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Pairwise normalization: A neuroeconomic theory of multi-attribute choice

open access: yes, 2021
This is a submitted manuscript of an article that was published by Elsevier in the Journal of Economic Theory. We present a theory of multi-attribute choice founded in the neuroscience of perception.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Multi-Attribute Decision-Making Method Based on Prospect Theory in Heterogeneous Information Environment and Its Application in Typhoon Disaster Assessment

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems
Aiming at the decision-making problem in heterogeneous information environment and considering the influence of decision makers' psychological behavior on decision-making results, this paper proposes a multi-attribute decision-making method based on ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Catastrophe Progression Method and Its Application to Selection of Construction Scheme

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2015
On the basis of the specific complexity, ambiguity and uncertainty of the selection of construction scheme for multi-attribute decision making system, a new evaluation method based on catastrophe theory is proposed and applied to the decision making for ...

A Psychometric Approach to the VIKOR Method for Eliciting Subjective Public Assessments

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Based on the concepts of sensory thresholds, the Weber-Fechner Law in psychology has usually been applied to sensory dimensions. However, some neurophysiological studies have shown that assessment of mental numbers or numerical information also follows ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Children’s application of decision strategies in a compensatory environment [PDF]

open access: yesJudgment and Decision Making, 2018
Adaptive actors must be able to use probabilities as decision weights. In a computerized multi-attribute task, the authors examined the decisions of children (5–6 years, n = 44; 9–10 y., n = 39) and adults (21–22 y., n = 31) in an environment that ...
