Near‐Infrared Emitting Lanthanide Catecholate Giant Single Crystals – Morphology Control and Photon Down‐Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled syntheses of lanthanide coordination polymers based on the dihydroxybenzoquinone (DHBQ) organic linker afforded large single crystals of Ln‐DHBQ CPs (Ln = Yb, Nd). A novel structural variant of Yb‐DHBQ is identified by means of single crystal diffraction analysis.

Bias–selectable nBn dual–band long–/very long–wavelength infrared photodetectors based on InAs/InAs1−xSbx/AlAs1−xSbx type–II superlattices

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Type–II superlattices (T2SLs) are a class of artificial semiconductors that have demonstrated themselves as a viable candidate to compete with the state–of–the–art mercury–cadmium–telluride material system in the field of infrared detection and imaging ...

A novel design for low insertion loss, multi-band RF-MEMS switch with low pull-in voltage

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal, 2016
This paper presents a new type of capacitive shunt RF-MEMS switch. In the proposed design, float metal concept is utilized to reduce the RF overlap area between the movable structure and central conductor of CPW for improving the insertion loss of the ...

Design of Graphene-Based Dual-Polarized Switchable Rasorber/Absorber at Terahertz

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This paper reports a dual-polarized graphene-based multi-functional device which could switch between rasorber and absorber flexibly. The only difference between rasorber and absorber is that rasorber has a transmission window with low loss. Therefore, a

Fast‐Responding O2 Gas Sensor Based on Luminescent Europium Metal‐Organic Frameworks (MOF‐76)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Luminescent MOF‐76 materials based on Eu(III) and mixed Eu(III)/Y(III) show rapid and reversible changes in emission intensity in response to O2 with very short response times. The effect is based on triplet quenching of the linker ligands that act as photosensitizers. Average emission lifetimes of a few milliseconds turn out to be mostly unaffected by

Broadband lightweight flat lenses for longwave-infrared imaging

open access: yes, 2019
We experimentally demonstrate imaging in the longwave-infrared (LWIR) spectral band (8um to 12um) using a single polymer flat lens based upon multi-level diffractive optics.

Long-Range Communications in Unlicensed Bands: the Rising Stars in the IoT and Smart City Scenarios

open access: yes, 2016
Connectivity is probably the most basic building block of the Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm. Up to know, the two main approaches to provide data access to the \emph{things} have been based either on multi-hop mesh networks using short-range ...

Multi-band weakly ground-coupled balanced antenna design for portable devices

open access: yesIET Science, Measurement & Technology, 2012
A balanced antenna for wireless portable devices applications with multiple band operational performance is investigated and discussed. The designed antenna is weakly ground-couple, although can be considered as an energy-efficient radiator. The antenna structure is a thin-strip planar dipole with a dual-folded structure on each arm. The performance of

Electronic structure and transport in amorphous metal oxide and amorphous metal oxy-nitride semiconductors

open access: yes, 2019
Recently amorphous oxide semiconductors (AOS) have gained commercial interest due to their low-temperature processability, high mobility and areal uniformity for display backplanes and other large area applications. A multi-cation amorphous oxide (a-IGZO)
