Coupling losses in perfluorinated multi-core polymer optical fibers

open access: yesOptics Express, 2008
The aim of the present paper is to provide a comprehensive analysis of coupling losses in perfluorinated (PF) multi-core polymer optical fibers (MC-POFs), which consist of groups of 127 graded-index cores. In our analysis we take into account geometrical, longitudinal, transverse, and angular misalignments.

Optical Field Transmission Analysis of an All-Fiber Signal Combiner With a Dumbbell Shape

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2022
In this paper, the optical field transmission characteristics of an all-fiber signal combiner with a dumbbell shape and its application in laser beam combining are analyzed theoretically. Based on the three-layer waveguide model, the mode characteristics

Real-time holographic lensless micro-endoscopy through flexible fibers via fiber bundle distal holography

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Fiber-based micro-endoscopes are minimally invasive, but 3D imaging is limited by the need for bulky optical elements or rigid fibers. Here, the authors demonstrate holographic imaging through flexible and dynamically bent multi-core fibers by adding ...

Hollow core Bragg fiber with antiresonant intermediate layer

open access: yes, 2016
By means of the transfer matrix method, the optical properties of fibers with a distinct intermediate layer between a hol-low core and periodic cladding are calculated. The periodic cladding consists of two types of the alternating layers.
