A Field Theory for Multi-dimensional Scaling

An approach to multi-dimensional scaling is described which employs an analogy from the physics of conservative vector fields. This analogy allows the introduction of kinematic concepts into the data science problem in a natural way. Specific examples are presented.

Entropy Estimation and Multi-Dimensional Scale Saliency

In this paper we survey two multi-dimensional Scale Saliency approaches based on graphs and the k-d partition algorithm. In the latter case we introduce a new divergence metric and we show experimentally its suitability. We also show an application of multi-dimensional Scale Saliency to texture discrimination.

Rule Visualization based on Multi-Dimensional Scaling

This paper presents an approach to visualizing and exploring high-dimensional rules in two-dimensional views. The proposed method uses multi-dimensional scaling to place the rule centers and subsequently extends the rules' regions to depict their overlap.
