Multidimensional scaling is a statistical technique to visualize dissimilarity data. In multidimensional scaling, objects are represented as points in a usually two dimensional space, such that the distances between the points match the observed ...

A Field Theory for Multi-dimensional Scaling
Lecture Notes in Computer Science, 2020An approach to multi-dimensional scaling is described which employs an analogy from the physics of conservative vector fields. This analogy allows the introduction of kinematic concepts into the data science problem in a natural way. Specific examples are presented.

How Fitch-Margoliash Algorithm can Benefit from Multi Dimensional Scaling
International audienceWhatever the phylogenetic method, genetic sequences are often described as strings of characters, thus molecular sequences can be viewed as elements of a multi-dimensional space.

Entropy Estimation and Multi-Dimensional Scale Saliency
2010 20th International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 2010In this paper we survey two multi-dimensional Scale Saliency approaches based on graphs and the k-d partition algorithm. In the latter case we introduce a new divergence metric and we show experimentally its suitability. We also show an application of multi-dimensional Scale Saliency to texture discrimination.

The Development of a Multi-dimensional Gambling Accessibility Scale
Journal of Gambling Studies, 2009The aim of the current study was to develop a scale of gambling accessibility that would have theoretical significance to exposure theory and also serve to highlight the accessibility risk factors for problem gambling. Scale items were generated from the Productivity Commission's (Australia's Gambling Industries: Report No. 10. AusInfo, Canberra, 1999)

Rule Visualization based on Multi-Dimensional Scaling
2006 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems, 2006This paper presents an approach to visualizing and exploring high-dimensional rules in two-dimensional views. The proposed method uses multi-dimensional scaling to place the rule centers and subsequently extends the rules' regions to depict their overlap.
