THE COSMOPOLITICS OF CATS AND WILDLIFE ON CAPE TOWN'S URBAN EDGE
International Journal of Urban and Regional Research, EarlyView.Abstract
Free‐ranging cats are widely tolerated in cities, and animal welfare organizations increasingly allow for ‘trap, neuter and release’ (TNR) of unowned cats. We show, using the example of a university campus adjacent to a national park in a large metropole, that this has implications for cosmopolitics over biodiversity on the urban edge.Nicoli Nattrass, Zoë Woodgate, Benjamin Wittenberg, M. Geographical Research, EarlyView.Abstract
We apply a relational multiscalar model of the sustainability of social organisation to the management of COVID‐19 in Australia to analyse systems resilience and outcome fairness. Our model encompasses the structures, processes, functions, and contents of social organisation across micro, meso, and macro scales.Glen Rutherford, Jamie Kirkpatrick, Aidan Davison, Vishnu Prahalad +3 morewiley +1 more sourceThe 15‐Year Survival Advantage: Immune Resilience as a Salutogenic Force in Healthy Aging
Aging Cell, EarlyView.Human aging shows puzzling diversity: similar aging rates yet vastly different health outcomes. Our study of ~17,500 people revealed a health‐promoting trait (more common in women) linked to strong immune resilience and high expression of TCF7, a key immune gene. This trait enables individuals to fight infections like COVID‐19 more effectively, respond Muthu Saravanan Manoharan, Grace C. Lee, Nathan Harper, Justin A. Meunier, Marcos I.
