Using multi-layer perceptron with Laplacian edge detector for bladder cancer diagnosis

open access: yesArtificial Intelligence in Medicine, 2020
In this paper, the urinary bladder cancer diagnostic method which is based on Multi-Layer Perceptron and Laplacian edge detector is presented. The aim of this paper is to investigate the implementation possibility of a simpler method (Multi-Layer ...

The geometry of multi-layer perceptron solutions

Parallel Computing, 1990
Abstract We geometrically classify multi-layer perceptron (MLP) solutions in two ways: the hyperplane partitioning interpretation and the hidden-unit representation of the pattern set. We show these classifications to be invariant under orthogonal transformations and translations in the space of the hidden units.

Multi-Layer Perceptrons

2013
Having described the structure, the operation and the training of (artificial) neural networks in a general fashion in the preceding chapter, we turn in this and the subsequent chapters to specific forms of (artificial) neural networks. We start with the best-known and most widely used form, the so-called multi-layer perceptron (MLP), which is closely ...

Parallel Implementation of a Multi-Layer Perceptron

1990
In this paper we describe a parallel implementation of a multi-layer perceptron for a message-passing parallel architecture following the vertical-slicing approach. A theoretical analysis shows that linear scalability may be achieved both in recognition and learning, at the expense of a proper replication of data structures in order to optimize the ...

Minehunting with multi-layer perceptrons

[1991 Proceedings] IEEE Conference on Neural Networks for Ocean Engineering, 2002
The authors describe the use of multilayer perceptrons to solve the problem of distinguishing mine-like objects from clutter. Three increasingly sophisticated and effective approaches were applied against difficult side scan sonar imagery containing a highly cluttered and variable environment.

Multi-layer Perceptrons for Subvocal Recognition

2017 IEEE 29th International Conference on Tools with Artificial Intelligence (ICTAI), 2017
A multi-layer perceptron (MLP) system is investigated for recognizing phonemes from EMG data. EMG data was recorded during full vocalization and subvocalization. Motor Unit Action Potentials (MUAPs) were inferred from EMG data and their spectral energies used to train four articulatory feature extraction models based on MLPs.

The Multi-Layer Perceptron

1995
Abstract In Chapter 3, we discussed the properties of networks having a single layer of adaptive weights. Such networks have a number of important limitations in terms of the range of functions which they can represent. To allow for more general map pings we might consider successive transformations corresponding to networks having ...

Construction and interpretation of multi-layer-perceptrons

2001 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics. e-Systems and e-Man for Cybernetics in Cyberspace (Cat.No.01CH37236), 2002
Denker, Schwartz et al.(1987) start their paper with the sentence: "Since antiquity, man has dreamed of building a device that would "learn from examples", "form generalizations", and "discover the rules" behind patterns in the data". This paper offers an idea, how to construct a binary multi-layer-perceptron MLP out of some primitives, that we ...
