Multi-physical characterization of supercapacitor

2017 Twelfth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER), 2017
This paper presents the supercapacitor parameters variations due to number of cycles (NbCy), the frequency of DC-current and the temperature. The goal of this study consists to show the parameters evolution which can serve to determine the supercapacitor energetic performances limits estimation for different conditions of use.

Coupling multi-physics models to cardiac mechanics

Progress in Biophysics and Molecular Biology, 2011
We outline and review the mathematical framework for representing mechanical deformation and contraction of the cardiac ventricles, and how this behaviour integrates with other processes crucial for understanding and modelling heart function. Building on general conservation principles of space, mass and momentum, we introduce an arbitrary Eulerian ...

Multi-physics simulations with vorpal

2010 Abstracts IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science, 2010
The VORPAL finite-difference time-domain particle-in-cell simulation tool has traditionally been used for accelerator, electromagnetic, and plasma simulations. Approximately two years ago, a generalized PDE (partial differential equation) capability was added to the software, and we are now developing this capability to provide multi-physics ...

Multi-Physics Energy Approach and Demonstration Facility

Volume 1: Advances in Solar Buildings and Conservation; Climate Control and the Environment; Alternate Fuels and Infrastructure; ARPA-E; Combined Energy Cycles, CHP, CCHP, and Smart Grids; Concentrating Solar Power; Economic, Environmental, and Policy Aspects of Alternate Energy; Geothermal Energy, Harvesting, Ocean Energy and Other Emerging Technologies; Hydrogen Energy Technologies; Low/Zero Emission Power Plants and Carbon Sequestration; Micro and Nano Technology Applications and Materials, 2015
A methodology to investigate the generation, transport and storage of energy based on a multi-physics approach, tied to the end use application, is presented. Often little or no consideration is given to the end use or desired product of the energy used.

Material Modelling in Multi-Physics FEM Simulation

Key Engineering Materials, 2018
Nowadays virtual prototyping has a great impact in the design process of an industrial component. Numerical techniques based on the Finite Element Method (FEM) are mature to provide computational tools that permit complex phenomena to be accurately simulated, even when dealing with multi-physical problems.

MULTI-PHYSICS MODELS IN ELECTRIC NETWORK DESIGN

Waves and Stability in Continuous Media, 2004
We consider a linear RLC network which contains a semiconductor device. In a multi-physics approach, the network is modeled by Modified Nodal Analysis, while a detailed drift-diffusion model is used for the semiconductor device. We discuss the coupling of the two models and address briefly the well-posedness of the resulting partial differential ...

Component-Based Modelling of Multi-Physics Systems

International Journal of Modelling and Simulation, 2010
AbstractTo facilitate the modelling of multi-component systems, the multi-physics simulation framework developed earlier by the authors was extended with a concept of a physical component. The approach enables one to model multiple associations between physical processes and components of the system.

Parallelisation of MACOPA, A Multi-physics Asynchronous Solver

2017
Macopa is a partial differential equations solver based on a particular local time-stepping technique dedicated to multi-physics and multi-scale problems. Here, some parallelisation strategies – multi-threading, domain decomposition, and hybrid OpenMP/MPI – are introduced for this solver. Their efficiency is evaluated on a few examples.
