We consider the problem of cropping surveillance videos. This process chooses a trajectory that a small sub-window can take through the video, selecting the most important parts of the video for display on a smaller monitor. We model the information content of the video simply, by whether the image changes at each pixel.

Multi-scale binarization of images

In this paper, we propose an original approach for the binarization of gray level images. A multi-scale algorithm based on a statistical test of homogeneity decides if a region belongs to the background or not. At each iteration the image is smoothed with a nonlinear filter to remove the noise.
