Distributed Raman Amplification for Fiber Nonlinearity Compensation in a Mid-Link Optical Phase Conjugation System

open access: yesSensors, 2022
In this paper, we review different designs of distributed Raman amplifiers which have been proposed to minimize the signal power profile asymmetry in mid-link optical phase conjugation systems.

A new theory for torsional stiffness of multi-span bundle overhead transmission lines [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1998
A new theory for the torsional stiffness of multi-span bundle overhead power transmission lines is presented. The torsional mechanism is clarified. A simplified torsional stiffness formula is obtained which allows for the complex bundle stiffness to be directly calculated from the basic parameters.

Investigation Into the Galloping Characteristics of Multispan Iced Covered Conductors

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
A full multispan two-degree-of-freedom (2-DOF) iced covered transmission line model is presented. Taking multispan conductors as the research object, based on the Hamiltonian principle, a nonlinear galloping model of multispan conductors considering the ...

A compact incoherent broadband cavity-enhanced absorption spectrometer for trace detection of nitrogen oxides, iodine oxide and glyoxal at levels below parts per billion for field applications [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2020
We present a compact, affordable and robust instrument based on incoherent broadband cavity-enhanced absorption spectroscopy (IBBCEAS) for simultaneous detection of NOx, IO, CHOCHO and O3 in the 400–475 nm wavelength region.

Optimization of minimum crossing distance of transmission line based on multi objective ant colony algorithm

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2022
In the test of cross span distance of transmission line, the estimation of cross span distance is not accurate, which leads to the increase of subsequent test error.

Calculation Method for dynamic Stiffness of multi-span overhead transmission lines

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
The dynamic motion of a span is coupled to the other spans in transmission lines. From the continuity conditions, force equilibrium conditions, and dynamical equations of every span conductor and insulator string, a close-form expression for the dynamic ...

Design and characteristics analysis of a new vibration reduction system for in service long span transmission tower

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
The wind-induced fatigue is the main factor leading to reduction of the bearing capacity of long-span transmission towers. In order to reduce the harm of wind vibration, this paper takes the 500 kV Jiamusi region ISLSTT (in service long span transmission

Towards a System Theoretic Approach to Wireless Network Capacity in Finite Time and Space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In asymptotic regimes, both in time and space (network size), the derivation of network capacity results is grossly simplified by brushing aside queueing behavior in non-Jackson networks.

Predicting wildfire ignition induced by dynamic conductor swaying under strong winds

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
During high wind events with dry weather conditions, electric power systems can be the cause of catastrophic wildfires. In particular, conductor-vegetation contact has been recognized as the major ignition cause of utility-related wildfires.
