Asymmetric End-Functionalization of Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2005
Asymmetric end-functionalization of carbon nanotubes was achieved by sequentially floating a substrate-free aligned carbon nanotube film on two different photoreactive solutions with only one side of the nanotube film being contacted with the photoreactive solution and exposed to UV light each time.

A Multi-Wall Carbon Nanotube Tower Electrochemical Actuator

Nano Letters, 2006
Patterned multiwall carbon nanotube arrays up to four millimeters long were synthesized using chemical vapor deposition. Electrochemical actuation of a nanotube array tower was demonstrated in a 2 M NaCl solution at frequencies up to 10 Hz with 0.15% strain using a 2 V square wave excitation. The synthesis and electrochemical modeling approach outlined

Resistance-Based Biosensor of Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes

Journal of Immunoassay and Immunochemistry, 2014
Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWNTs) are a good choice for resistive biosensors due to their great resistance changes when immunoreactions take place, they are also low-cost, more biocompatible than single-walled carbon nanotubes, and resistive measurement equipment is usually not expensive and readily available.

Preparation and Characterization of Oxidized Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes and Glycine Functionalized Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes

Fullerenes, Nanotubes and Carbon Nanostructures, 2014
In this work, oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and glycine functionalized MWCNTs were synthesized and characterized using ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) techniques..

Biological effects of agglomerated multi-walled carbon nanotubes

Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces, 2016
The physicochemical properties of nanomaterials play crucial roles in determining their biological effects. Agglomeration of nanomaterials in various systems is a common phenomenon, however, how agglomeration affects the biological consequence of nanomaterials has not been well investigated because of its complexity.

Wetting behavior of multi-walled carbon nanotube nanofluids

Nanotechnology, 2017
Nanofluids-engineered colloidal suspensions in base liquids-have captivated the interest of researchers over the last two decades for various existing as well as emerging technological applications. The main impetus for the synthesis of such novel nanocomposite liquids is the potential to alter properties of the base liquid, such as its viscosity ...

Magnetic Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes for Tumor Theranostics

Journal of Biomedical Nanotechnology, 2015
Current diagnostic techniques do not reliably detect cancer at early stages, and traditional chemotherapy lacks specificity and causes systemic toxicity. To address these issues, multifunctional nanomaterials are becoming more widely studied as a means of cancer detection, therapy, and monitoring.

Self-Assembly of Aligned Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes in Polypropylene-Coated Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes Composites

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
Polypropylene (PP)-coated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) composite with MWNTs exceptional alignment dispersed and improved mechanical properties was prepared with maleic anhydride (MAH) as a compatibilizer and poly (butyl methacrylate) (PBMA) as a binding. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) results showed that MWNTs within composite were aligned

A multi-walled carbon nanotube–aluminum bimorph nanoactuator

Nanotechnology, 2009
A multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT) bimorph nanoactuator has been modeled, fabricated and characterized. A thin aluminum film was uniformly deposited on the sidewalls of MWNTs using a pulsed laser deposition method to create the bimorph nanostructure.

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes on amorphous carbon films

Carbon, 2004
Nanotubular structures composed of layered graphite sheets or other layered materials have been studied intensely by both scanning and transmission electron microscopy. In this paper, we will show how graphite structures, that are inherent to the production process of the amorphous carbon support films, used for both SEM and TEM studies can be easily ...
