Lightcraft Impulse Measurements under Vacuum

open access: yes, 2003
Under an EOARD contract, the DLR has conducted a series of comparative impulse measurements for two different lightcraft configurations with the same nozzle exit diameter of 10 cm: The German design (GL) is of the more conventional parabolical bell shape

Chip‐Integrated Metasurface‐GaAsSb Nanowire Array Photodetectors for Single‐Pixel Polarimetric Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A 2×2 multiplexed GaAsSb nanowire photodetector array integrated with L‐shaped metasurfaces is developed for miniaturized infrared polarimetry. Leveraging non‐radiating anapole states that facilitate near‐field enhancement, the device demonstrates strong polarization selectivity at 835 nm.

The short and long-run determinants of the real exchange rate in Mexico [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper explores the real exchange rate behavior in Mexico from 1960 until 2005. Since the empirical analysis reveals that the real exchange rate is not mean reverting, we propose that economic fundamental variables affect its evolution in the long ...

Impulse Radio Ultra-Wideband Ranging Algorithm under Multi User Environments

open access: yes
Practical impulse radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) ranging systems always have to work in multi-user and weak non-line-of-sight (NLOS) environments. In this paper, we derive a novel IR-UWB ranging estimator under multi-user and weak NLOS environments.

Multimodal Locomotion in Insect‐Inspired Microrobots: A Review of Strategies for Aerial, Surface, Aquatic, and Interfacial Motion

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review identifies key design considerations for insect‐inspired microrobots capable of multimodal locomotion. To draw inspiration, biological and robotic strategies for moving in air, on water surfaces, and underwater are examined, along with approaches for crossing the air–water interface.

Joint Channel Impulse Response and Noise-Variance Estimation for OFDM{\slash}SDMA Systems Based on Expectation Maximization

open access: yes, 2010
A joint channel impulse response (CIR) and noise-variance estimation scheme is proposed for multi-user Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing\,/\,Space Division Multiple Access (OFDM/SDMA) systems, which is based

Intelligent Sky Guardians (InSkyGuard): An Aerial Robotic Swarm for Autonomous Detection and Entrapment of Rogue Multirotors

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Intelligent Sky Guardians (InSkyGuard) is introduced as a four‐drone swarm that autonomously detects, tracks, and safely captures rogue drones using a coordinated net system. Computer vision and leader–follower control architecture enable synchronized enclosure, while integrated failsafes enhance system reliability. Validated through closed‐environment
