Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Optimal multi-impulse space rendezvous considering limited impulse using a discretized Lambert problem combined with evolutionary algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, a direct approach is presented to tackle the multi-impulse rendezvous problem considering the impulse limit. Particularly, the standard Lambert problem is extended toward several consequential orbit transfers for the rendezvous problem.

Polymer Interface Enables Reversible Quasi‐Solid Sulfur Conversion in Sodium‐Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The polymer interface enables a stable quasi‐solid sulfur conversion pathway in room‐temperature Na─S batteries. The coating regulates Na+ transport, stabilizes the cathode–electrolyte interphase, and accommodates mechanical stress, suppressing electrolyte decomposition and sulfur migration, thereby improving reaction uniformity, reducing polarization,

Transfer Printing and Reconfiguration of Soft Electronics Using Digital Microfluidics and Laser Machining

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a digital microfluidics‐based technique for transferring and reconfiguring soft nanomembranes. Laser‐machined nanothin membranes are picked up, transported, and aligned via tailored surface tension and the actuation of water droplets, enabling the development of flexible electronics, the integration of functional materials on 3D ...

Magnetic‐Field Control of Surface States in CoFe2O4 Thin Films for Nitrate Electroreduction to Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic‐field‐assisted CVD of heterometallic single‐source precursors modulates thin‐film surface electronic structure and interfacial charge transfer. Field‐grown (Cobalt ferrite‐1T)CF‐1T films exhibit stabilized electronic states, lower kinetic barriers, and markedly enhanced nitrate‐to‐ammonia electrocatalysis versus (Cobalt ferrite‐0T) CF‐0T ...

Simultaneous Optimization of Elastic-Plastic Building Structures and Viscous Dampers Under Critical Double Impulse

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2020
A new method for simultaneous optimal design of main building structures and viscous dampers is proposed for elastic-plastic multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) building structures subjected to the critical double impulse which is regarded as a representative
