Description Combines international schools of thought on the behavior of materials subjected to multiaxial fatigue. Gives designers simplified methods of analysis that are applicable to practical situations involving complex street cycling. Shows that significant progress has been made in predicating finite fatigue life behavior, namely,

Multiaxial behavior of concrete A mesomechanical approach
Revue européenne de génie civil, 2007ABSTRACT Interface elements for discrete fracture plus meso-level geometric representation are emerging as a powerful tool for the modeling of the behavior of heterogeneous materials such as concrete. The group of mechanics of materials at ETSECCPB has been developing such tools in which meso-geometry is generated numerically via Voronoi/Delaunay ...

Abstract This chapter reviews the theories that have emerged from the widespread study of multiaxial fatigue and assesses their validity using data from different sources. It begins by providing background on the studies that the chapter draws on, pointing out differences in methodology and explaining how they influence test results and ...

Fatigue fracture is a complex domain that manufacturers have always been intended to control in order to predict the life duration of structures. For this purpose, many criteria saw the day and each of them is based on a specific formulation. Palin Luc proposed an energetic criterion that takes into account the stress gradient, nature of applied load ...

We derive a theoretical model based on a generalized Jones matrix formalism to calculate the eigenstates of lasers with N propagation axes. Spatial separation of the beams is realized inside the cavity by a collection of double-refraction crystals. This method allows one to adapt the mode volume to the geometry of the active medium.

Multiaxial Diagnostic Approaches
1988This chapter deals with diagnostic approaches in child psychiatry. The chapter begins with a discussion of why diagnostic classification is desirable and a summary of the basic principles of such classification. The goals and requirements of a classification system are outlined, and four types of classification systems (categorical, dimensional ...

A single vibration sensor having the capability of sensing vibration along three rotational axes as well as three translational axes and exhibiting consistent dynamics over a wide frequency range. The sensor includes an elongated mass formed of a generally rigid material suspended in a fluid within a housing.

The Multiaxial Rainflow Method
1992We present a new fatigue analysis data reduction concept for general multidimensional time series. The method is based on the Rainflow method, the most successful one-dimensional counting algorithm in fatigue.

In the usual tests to determine strength or lifetime under tension, bending or compression loading a uniaxial stress state is present. In components very often multi-axial stresses occur. Also under uniaxial external loading multiaxial stresses are possible, for instance in notched components.
