This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

Art. 16001, 9 S.This paper discusses the quality of common methods for estimating the fatigue strength of EN-GJS-400-18-LT specimens under multiaxial stress. This is particularly important for the lightweight design of wind turbines. Experimental fatigue

This work studies the anisotropic behavior of circular notched tensile specimens of Ni‐base superalloy single crystals during high‐temperature tensile creep along [001], [110], and [111]. Correlative scale‐bridging imaging of specimens reveals early rupture along [110] because 1) plastic deformation proceeds faster at notch center; 2) more (brittle ...

Functionally graded metal–ceramic femoral stems are engineered through continuous UMAT‐based stiffness tailoring, eliminating discrete material interfaces while enhancing biomechanical compatibility. Low‐index power‐law gradation optimizes load transfer, reduces stress shielding, and controls implant–bone micromotion, highlighting a materials‐design ...

Liquid Crystalline Elastomers in Soft Robotics: Assessing Promise and Limitations
Liquid crystalline elastomers (LCEs) are programmable soft materials that undergo large, anisotropic deformation in response to external stimuli. Their molecular alignment encodes directional actuation in a monolithic structure, making them long‐standing candidates for soft robotic systems.

S.383-400A new low-cycle multiaxial fatigue criterion based on the concept of effective strain is proposed. The effective shear strain y(eff) is derived by averaging shear strains acting on all planes at a material point during a loading cycle.

Axial-torsional fatigue of pultruded glass-fiber tubes
Fatigue characteristics of the pultruded glass-fiber composites were extensively investigated experimentally. Tubular specimens with three-layer structure (mat, roving, mat) were subjected to simultaneous cyclic axial and torsional loads to initiate ...
