On the application of fracture fatigue entropy to multiaxial loading

International Journal of Fatigue, 2021
Abstract An experimental and theoretical analysis of low carbon steel 1018 subjected to multiaxial loading is presented. Different loading conditions, including tension–compression, torsion, in-phase, and out-of-phase, are applied to investigate the effect of loading type on fatigue life.

Failure of aluminum foams under multiaxial loads

International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 2000
Abstract Aluminum foams are currently being considered for use in lightweight structural sandwich panels and in energy absorption devices. In both applications, they may be subject to multiaxial loads. The designer requires a criterion to evaluate the combination of multiaxial loads which cause failure.

A multiaxial fatigue criterion for random loading

Fatigue & Fracture of Engineering Materials & Structures, 2003
ABSTRACTA multiaxial fatigue criterion for random loading is proposed. Firstly, the orientation of the critical plane, where fatigue life estimation is carried out, is determined from the weighted mean position of the principal stress directions. Then, the scalar value of the normal stress vectorN(t) perpendicular to the critical plane is taken as the ...

Multiaxial loading and fatigue lifetime in LCF

Materials Testing, 2004
Abstract Generally, most machine parts are loaded with a combination of different variable forces and moments. This often causes a state of multiaxial stress in the fatigue critical areas of the parts. In most cases, a nonproportional cyclic multiaxial state of stress occurs.

Transformation of a Nonproportional Multiaxial Loading to an Equivalent Proportional Multiaxial Loading

2008
Fatigue fracture is a complex domain that manufacturers have always been intended to control in order to predict the life duration of structures. For this purpose, many criteria saw the day and each of them is based on a specific formulation. Palin Luc proposed an energetic criterion that takes into account the stress gradient, nature of applied load ...
