Welded joints under multiaxial non-proportional loading [PDF]

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics, 2018

Numerical implementation of a multiaxial cyclic plasticity model for the Local Strain Method in low cycle fatigue [PDF]

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2014
Very often computations on structural elements or machine components subjected to variable loading require using an advanced finite element model. This paper reports the numerical implementation of a model for multiaxial cyclic elasticplastic behaviour ...

Comparative study of multiaxial fatigue methods applied to welded joints in marine structures [PDF]

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2016
Marine structures are particularly prone to action of waves, winds and currents with stochastically varying composition, intensities and directions. Therefore, resultant stresses may cause multiaxial fatigue in specific welded structural details. For the

Evaluation of multiaxial low cycle fatigue life under non-proportional loading considering effect of mean strain (Loading simulated thermal fatigue due to temperature fluctuation in junction piping)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2020
In a pressure vessel, a heat exchanger and a junction piping where cold and hot water are mixed, temperature fluctuation yields multiaxial stress and random amplitude loading conditions.

Yield surface evolution for columnar ice

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2016
A series of triaxial compression tests, which has capable of measuring the volumetric strain of the sample, were conducted on columnar ice. A new testing approach of probing the experimental yield surface was performed from a single sample in order to ...

Multiaxial Kitagawa analysis of A356-T6

open access: yes, 2011
Experimental Kitagawa analysis has been performed on A356-T6 containing natural and artificial defects. Results are obtained with a load ratio of R = -1 for three different loadings: tension, torsion and combined tension-torsion. The critical defect size

Micromechanical investigation of the influence of defects in high cycle fatigue [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This study aims to analyse the influence of geometrical defects (notches and holes) on the high cycle fatigue behaviour of an electrolytic copper based on finite element simulations of 2D polycrystalline aggregates.

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.
