Material Development and Foam Extrusion Processing of Thermoplastic Starch‐Based Compounds

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the project: a compound material based on thermoplastic starch and PBAT is developed for further processing in the foam extrusion process to achieve a flexible foam sheet with a low density and fine‐pored foam structure. ABSTRACT An investigation into the properties of starch‐based compounds is conducted to determine their ...

Statistical assessment of multiaxial HCF criteria at the grain scale [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Multiaxial high cycle fatigue modeling of materials is an issue that concerns many industrial domains (automotive, aerospace, nuclear, etc.) and in which many progress still remains to be achieved.

SensHB.Q: A Cost‐Effective Force‐Sensitive Handlebar to Control Omnidirectional Robots and Wheelchairs

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper details the design and development of SensHB.Q, a force‐sensitive handlebar intended for caregivers driving electric‐powered wheelchairs, particularly those with omnidirectional mobility. The same interface can also be used in the future to operate other omnidirectional motorized systems, such as mobile robots, hospital beds, and ...

Fatigue strength and durability analysis by normalised equivalent stress functionals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Generalised fatigue durability diagrams are considered for a material under multi-axial loading given by a (non-regularly) oscillating function of time.

Increasing the Reuse Potential of High‐Strength Steels by Extending the Fatigue Life through Surface Treatments

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Surface reconditioning through mechanical and electrochemical polishing is shown to extend the fatigue life of predamaged 42CrMo4 steel by over 12 times. By removing ≈100 μm of surface material, surface‐driven fatigue damage is mitigated. This study introduces a reuse potential metric to evaluate fatigue recovery and support sustainable steel reuse. Use of elastic stresses for a multiaxial fatigue prediction [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Computational Mechanics, 2007
A new computational method derived from Papuga PCr multiaxial criterion is presented in the paper. While the PCr criterion is suitable for a comparison of a local multiaxial loading with a fatigue limit, the PCF criterion derived is focused on ...

Development of Tension-Torsion Multiaxial Creep Testing Apparatus for Heat Resisting Steel

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
This paper describes development of a combined tensiontorsion multiaxial creep testing apparatus for heat resisting steel. It is essential for high temperature component designing to investigate creep rupture life and creep properties of heat resisting ...

CYCLIC STRAIN ACCUMULATION UNDER COMPLEX MULTIAXIAL LOADING [PDF]

open access: yes, 1963
Abstract : When a tubular specimen of copper is subjected to a small steady tension and alternating torsion at room temperature large axial strain increments accumulate on a cyclic basis. At relatively low values of axial stress a steady state cyclic strain accumulation is observed to develop.

Strip loading in reinforced concrete: Mechanical modeling and experimental validation

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Strip loading of reinforced concrete is a common problem in engineering practice. The concrete compressive strength at the load introduction can be several times higher than the uniaxial concrete compressive strength, which can be attributed to geometrical and passive confining stresses caused by load dispersion and reinforcement, respectively.

Robustness assessment of reinforced concrete structures for different failure scenarios

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract This study describes the robustness assessment of 3D reinforced concrete structures analyzing the response of the 2D frames in different design configurations and failure scenarios. The structures are characterized by both frames with wide beams and seismic‐resistant frames with deep beams.
