Microstructural characterization of creep anisotropy at 673K in the M5® alloy [PDF]
Zirconium alloy tubing is used in pressurized water nuclear reactors in order to prevent fissile material from leaking into the coolant. It can be the first safety wall of nuclear fuel, and is submitted to complex thermomechanical loadings.

Multiaxial approach for local elastic stress analysis
AbstractThe paper describes application of the theory of the critical distance on multiaxially loaded notched components, including both high mean loads and non-proportional loading. The notches range from very sharp ones with notch radius 0.11 mm to a very mild case of the shoulder-fillet.

A Janus‐like bio‐inspired strategy is proposed for integrally 3D‐printed bimetallic metamaterials. Inspired by shell bilayers, a heat‐resistant AlSiFeMnNiMg alloy and a SiC‐reinforced AlSi10Mg with different SiC volume fractions are arranged as an architected pair.

A probabilistic high cycle fatigue model applied to cast Al-Si alloys [PDF]
In this work, the high cycle fatigue behavior of cast hypo-eutectic Al-Si alloys is investigated. It is observed that two different coexisting fatigue initiation mechanisms can occur in these materials depending on the presence of different ...

A Standardized Framework for Elastomer Characterization in Soft Robotics
A unified framework addresses inconsistent elastomer property reporting which limits reproducibility and standardization in soft robotics. Systematic testing of ten elastomers (thermosetting, thermoplastic, and a covalent adaptable network) provides quasielastic mechanical properties, viscoelastic parameters, thermal stability, and processing ...
