Increasing the Reuse Potential of High‐Strength Steels by Extending the Fatigue Life through Surface Treatments

Surface reconditioning through mechanical and electrochemical polishing is shown to extend the fatigue life of predamaged 42CrMo4 steel by over 12 times. A multiaxial stress-strain correction scheme [PDF]

A method to correct the elastic stress tensor at a fixed point of an elastoplastic body, which is subject to exterior loads, is presented and analysed. In contrast to uniaxial corrections (Neuber or ESED), our method takes multiaxial phenomena like ratchetting or cyclic hardening/softening into account by use of Jiang's model.

Abstract Strip loading of reinforced concrete is a common problem in engineering practice. The concrete compressive strength at the load introduction can be several times higher than the uniaxial concrete compressive strength, which can be attributed to geometrical and passive confining stresses caused by load dispersion and reinforcement, respectively.
