Group-orthogonal multi-carrier CDMA

MILCOM 2002. Proceedings, 2003
Code division multiple access (CDMA) over frequency-selective fading channels faces challenges in suppressing multiuser interference (MUI), but can also benefit from the channel-induced multipath diversity. On the other hand, uncoded orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) is MUI-free by design, but faces challenges arising from the ...

Multicarrier techniques for wideband CDMA

ISCE '97. Proceedings of 1997 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (Cat. No.97TH8348), 2002
This paper examines the performance of the multicarrier technique employed in a W-CDMA system in a frequency selective Rayleigh fading channel without a RAKE receiver. It is found that the multicarrier technique is simpler than the technique used in the single carrier RAKE receiver while producing a comparable performance to that of the RAKE receiver.

Successive interference cancellation in multicarrier DS/CDMA

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2000
In this paper, we present a successive interference cancellation (SIC) scheme for a multicarrier (MC) direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (CDMA) system, using band-limited spreading waveforms to prevent self-interference. In every subband, the SIC receiver successively detects the interferers' signals and substracts them from the user-of ...

Wavelet packet waveforms for multicarrier CDMA communications

IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing, 2002
Wavelet packets have been found a promising candidate for user signature waveforms in code division multiple access communication systems due to their good orthogonality property. In this paper we investigate the use of wavelet packets in multicarrier CDMA.

Space-frequency filtering for multicarrier CDMA systems

IEEE 54th Vehicular Technology Conference. VTC Fall 2001. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37211), 2002
In this paper, we consider blind signal detection in a multicarrier direct-sequence code-division multiple- access system using an antenna array. A space-frequency filtering approach is proposed to coherently combine the desired signal contribution from all the space-frequency branches.

Subspace multiuser detection for multicarrier DS-CDMA

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2000
A subspace-based linear minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) multiuser detection scheme is proposed for a multicarrier direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (MC-DS-CDMA) system. Typically, a MC-DS-CDMA system employs a band-limited chip waveform. The band-limited nature of the chip waveform causes problem in applying standard subspace techniques ...

Grouped complementary codes for multicarrier CDMA systems

2009 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2009
A general construction of grouped complementary (GC) codes for multicarrier CDMA systems is proposed. The construction is based on perfect codes which have ideal periodic autocorrelation function. Different from traditional complementary codes, the constructed GC codes are divided into multiple code groups.

Robust multiuser detection for multicarrier CDMA systems

IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 2006
Multiuser detection (MUD) for code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems usually relies on some a priori channel estimates, which are obtained either blindly or by using training sequences, and the covariance matrix of the received signal, usually replaced by the sample covariance matrix.

Multicarrier-CDMA STAR with time and frequency synchronization

IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2005. ICC 2005. 2005, 2005
This paper proposes a spectrum-efficient spatio-temporal array-receiver (STAR) for multi-carrier CDMA systems named MC-STAR. First, we derive a new post-correlation model for MC-CDMA that supports both the MT-CDMA and MC-DS-CDMA air-interfaces. Based on this model, we introduce a new multi-carrier receiver with rapid and accurate joint synchronization ...

Performance of Multicarrier CDMA in the Presence of Correlated Fading

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2009
Incorporating a framework from multivariate statistical theory, analytical results for the performance of the downlink and uplink of multicarrier code-division multiple access (MC-CDMA) in the presence of correlated Rayleigh fading are presented. Bit-error-probability expressions are derived for MC-CDMA diversity combining schemes, while statistical ...
