A genetic algorithm-assisted semi-adaptive MMSE multi-user detection for MC-CDMA mobile communication systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this work, a novel Minimum-Mean Squared-Error (MMSE) multi-user detector is proposed for MC-CDMA transmission systems working over mobile radio channels characterized by time-varying multipath fading.

Iterative Receiver with Low Complexity for Downlink Multicarrier Communications over Rapidly Time‐Varying Channels

open access: yesWireless Communications and Mobile Computing, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
This study proposes an iterative, joint channel estimation, equalization, and data detection method in the presence of high mobility for a multicarrier downlink system that communicates over rapidly time‐varying channels. The proposed method uses a basis expansion method (BEM) which has low computational complexity and helps to reduce the number of ...

A Binary Cuckoo Search Big Data Algorithm Applied to Large‐Scale Crew Scheduling Problems

open access: yesComplexity, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
The progress of metaheuristic techniques, big data, and the Internet of things generates opportunities to performance improvements in complex industrial systems. This article explores the application of Big Data techniques in the implementation of metaheuristic algorithms with the purpose of applying it to decision‐making in industrial processes.

A Multiple‐Access Time and Frequency Spectrum‐Spreading Modulation

open access: yesWireless Communications and Mobile Computing, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
In this paper a novel modulation scheme called Carrier Interleaved Multiple Access (CIMA) is proposed. CIMA provides an alternative for multiple‐access modulation accommodating resistance to noise and channel interference. The approach is based on polar signaling modulated with an FM‐like composite sinusoidal function.

Large Families of Ternary Sequences with Aperiodic Zero Correlation Zone Sequences for a Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
A new method for generating families of ternary spreading sequences is presented. The sequences have aperiodic zero correlation zones and large families are created for a specific sequence length.

A Tutorial on Nonorthogonal Multiple Access for 5G and Beyond

open access: yesWireless Communications and Mobile Computing, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
Today’s wireless networks allocate radio resources to users based on the orthogonal multiple access (OMA) principle. However, as the number of users increases, OMA based approaches may not meet the stringent emerging requirements including very high spectral efficiency, very low latency, and massive device connectivity.

Generalized multicarrier DS-CDMA using various chip waveforms [PDF]

open access: yes2003 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking, 2003. WCNC 2003., 2004
In this contribution the family of generalized multicarrier DS-CDMA (MC DS-CDMA) schemes is investigated, when considering time-domain half-sine and raised-cosine chip waveforms, in addition to the rectangular chip waveform. Our results show that for a given subcarrier spacing the particular choice of the chip waveform has a substantial influence on ...

Modified Three‐Dimensional Multicarrier Optical Prime Codes

open access: yesInternational Journal of Optics, Volume 2016, Issue 1, 2016., 2016
We propose a mathematical model for novel three‐dimensional multicarrier optical codes in terms of wavelength/time/space based on the prime sequence algorithm. The proposed model has been extensively simulated on MATLAB for prime numbers (P) to analyze the performance of code in terms of autocorrelation and cross‐correlation.

open access: yes, 2005
In this contribution a generalized MC DS-CDMA system invoking smart antennas for improving the achievable performance in the downlink of the system is studied, which is capable of minimizing the downlink interference inflicted upon co-channel mobiles ...
