Quantum Key Distribution Networks Design: Overview and Challenges

open access: yesIET Quantum Communication, Volume 7, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper explores the potential of using established QKD network design techniques in the context of quantum key distribution, which is based on the principles of quantum mechanics. ABSTRACT Quantum cryptography has increasingly attracted interest from both industry and academia for its potential in real‐world applications.

Bit Rate Optimization with MMSE Detector for Multicast LP-OFDM Systems

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2012
We propose a new resource allocation algorithm with minimum mean square error (MMSE) detector for multicast linear precoded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (LP-OFDM) systems.

Joint 2‐D LFM Modulation and Mismatched Filter Design in Dual‐Function Radar‐Communication System

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar &Navigation, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper proposes a joint 2‐D LFM modulation and mismatched filtering design for military‐grade dual‐function radar‐communication systems. The novel scheme modulates data onto both the initial frequency and chirp rate of LFM pulses, boosting data rates whilst preserving the constant‐envelope property critical for high‐power transmission.

ALFA: A Software Architecture for Bounded Incremental Firmware Updates in Energy‐Constrained LoRa‐Based IoT Systems

open access: yesIET Smart Cities, Volume 8, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
Firmware Update Over‐The‐Air (FUOTA) in LoRaWAN is constrained by duty‐cycle regulations, limited payload sizes and energy variability, resulting in prolonged update latency. This work identifies build‐induced structural volatility as a key factor inflating differential patch sizes and proposes ALFA, an architectural and linker‐enforced framework that ...

User scheduling for multicast transmission in high throughput satellite systems

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2020
Adopting full frequency reuse in high throughput satellite (HTS) systems is expected to cope with huge communication demands and large user populations. Moreover, a kind of multicast transmission, which embeds the data of several users in each frame, can

FragCast: A Scalable BLE‐Based OTA Framework for Constrained IoT Devices

open access: yesIET Wireless Sensor Systems, Volume 16, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
In this research work, we propose and evaluate a novel OTA protocol that leverages the one‐to‐many broadcast paradigm of BLE. Our contribution is an application‐layer protocol that transports firmware fragments within custom‐formatted BLE advertising packets.

A Systematic Review of VANET Routing Protocols for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITSs)

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
The swift improvement of wireless communication technology has aided the creation of vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) as a revolutionary option for the realization of intelligent transportation systems (ITSs). VANETs facilitate seamless communication between vehicles and infrastructure (V2I) and among the vehicles themselves (V2V). These networks can
