Multicast scheduling with resource fairness constraints
Wireless Networks, 2007Integration of multicast and unicast data in future radio access networks will be necessary in order to improve the resource efficiency and provide new services. Such integration requires new and efficient resource sharing mechanisms. These mechanisms need to be optimized to provide the best possible trade-off between resource efficiency and fairness ...

"Scheduled-multicast" with application in multimedia networks
Proceedings IEEE International Conference on Networks 2000 (ICON 2000). Networking Trends and Challenges in the New Millennium, 2002We introduce a novel transmission technique, termed "scheduled-multicast". Scheduled-multicast uses existing or additional memory at internal nodes in the transmission paths from the server to the clients to buffer the data stream, and effectively reduce the bandwidth requirements.

Multicast scheduling for list requests
Proceedings.Twenty-First Annual Joint Conference of the IEEE Computer and Communications Societies, 2003Advances in wireless and optical communication, as well as in Internet multicast protocols, make broadcast and multicast methods an effective solution to disseminate data. In particular, repetitive server-initiated broadcast is an effective technique in wireless systems and is a scalable solution to relieve Internet hot spots.

Call scheduling algorithms in a multicast switch
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1992Multicast switching is emerging as a new switching technology that can provide efficient transport in a broadband network for video and other multipoint communication services. The authors develop and analyze call scheduling algorithms for a multicast switch.

Optimal multicast scheduling in input-queued switches
ICC 2001. IEEE International Conference on Communications. Conference Record (Cat. No.01CH37240), 2002This paper focuses on multicast support in input-queued packet switches with internal multicast capabilities. Besides providing an overview of some alternative architectures and algorithms proposed in the literature, the paper brings two original contributions.

Multi-Antenna Multicasting with Opportunistic Multicast Scheduling and Space-Time Transmission
2010 IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference GLOBECOM 2010, 2010Physical layer multicasting with opportunistic user selection and optimized space-time transmission is examined in this work. We consider a multi-antenna downlink scenario where a multi-antenna base-station transmits common information to a given set of users, each with a single receive antenna.

The effectiveness of intelligent scheduling for multicast video-on-demand
Proceedings of the 17th ACM international conference on Multimedia, 2009As more and more video content is made available and accessed on-demand, content and service providers face challenges of scale. Today's delivery mechanisms, especially unicast, require resources to scale linearly with the number of receivers and library sizes.

Approximation Algorithms for Layered Multicast Scheduling
2005Layered multicast is a scalable solution to data dissemination in heterogeneous networks such as the Internet. In this paper, we study the scheduling problem arising in the layered multicast context. Our goal is to generate a multicast schedule for two different objectives, i.e., to minimize the weighted sum (the L1 objective) of the per-layer average ...
