Geosynchronous synthetic aperture radar: design and applications [PDF]
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging from geosynchronous orbit has significant potential advantages over conventional low-Earth orbit (LEO) radars, but also challenges to overcome.

The 150‐MHz airborne ice‐sounding PASIN2 synthetic‐aperture‐radar is presented, to map the basal 3D‐topography beneath the Antarctic glaciers. The directional ambiguities are resolved by statistically exploiting the spatially distributed array of antennas.

Abstract A multi‐function radar is designed to perform disparate functions, such as surveillance, tracking, fire control, amongst others, within a limited resource (time, frequency, and energy) budget. A radar resource management (RRM) module within a radar system makes decisions on prioritisation, parameter selection, and scheduling of associated ...

Moving target detection method based on CUR‐RPCA for missing array elements
Abstract Moving target detection performance is seriously affected by missing array elements for multichannel synthetic aperture radar (Multi‐SAR) systems. Meanwhile, there is a contradiction between the accuracy of data recovery and the computational burden in traditional methods.

Abstract Migration of subglacial water underneath thick Antarctic ice is difficult to observe directly but is known to influence ice flow dynamics. Here, we analyze a 6‐year time series of displacement maps from differential Sentinel‐1 SAR interferometry (DInSAR) in the upstream region of Jutulstraumen Glacier. Our results reveal short‐term (between 12

Airborne ice‐penetrating radar data reveal the evolution of the subglacial morphology of the Jutulstraumen Glacier drainage system in western Dronning Maud Land. We identify various geomorphological patterns that are related to different stages of subglacial erosion and allow us to reconstruct the temporal sequence by which ice flow modified the ...

Synthetic aperture radar remote sensing for landfill monitoring [PDF]
Despite today’s intensive efforts directed at the recycling and recovery of solid wastes, the controlled disposal of refuse into land remains an important and necessary means of effective waste management.

Abstract In airborne radargrams, undulating periodic patterns in amplitude that overprint traditional radiostratigraphic layering are occasionally observed, however, they have yet to be analyzed from a geophysical or glaciological perspective. We present evidence supported by theory that these depth‐periodic patterns are consistent with a modulation of

Nondestructive Testing for Corrosion Evaluation of Metal under Coating
The use of steel has grown rapidly over the past decades. However, corrosion under coating detection still presents challenges for nondestructive testing (NDT) techniques. One of such challenges is the lift‐off introduced by complex structures. Inaccessibility due to structure leads corrosion to be undetected, which can lead to catastrophic failure ...

Multidimensional Waveform Encoding for Synthetic Aperture Radar Remote Sensing [PDF]
This paper introduces and analyses the innovative concept of multidimensional waveform encoding for spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR). The combination of this technique with digital beamforming on receive enables a new class of highly ...
