Evaluation of complex systems: multicriteria approach
International Scientific Technical Journal "Problems of Control and Informatics", 2023The quality of object functioning is evaluated by a set of properties that have a quantitative expression (quality criteria). The selection of object properties is carried out by the decision maker (DM). This selected object properties is a decomposition, resulting in a hierarchical structure.

Multicriteria Evaluation and Optimization
DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCEThe concept of nonlinear trade-off scheme in multicriteria problems of evaluation and optimization is presented. It is shown that the problem is to approximate correctly the decision-maker’s utility function and construct a substantial mathematical model (scalar convolution) adequate to the given situation to solve various multicriteria problems.

Choosing and evaluating technology policy: a multicriteria approach
Science and Public Policy, 2003The multicriteria nature of choosing and evaluating technology policy can be dealt with by outranking methods, enabling us to avoid weak approaches such as following rules or routines or imitating best practices on one hand, and fictitious multicriteria methods on the other. Outranking methods can strongly support policy makers and social scientists in

Multicriteria Evaluation of Building Foundation Alternatives
Computer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, 2016AbstractIn real conditions, decision makers usually deal with multiple objectives and should make a decision in a state of certainty or uncertainty. The selection of the best constructions for a building from a number of alternatives is of great importance for owners, contractors, and stakeholders.

GIS-Based Multicriteria Evaluation Approach for Corridor Siting [PDF]
Siting a linear facility such as a highway or a pipeline often requires a preliminary study in which one or several corridors are identified. Here we construct corridors as a collection of adjacent polygons specifying a ‘path’ from origin s to destination t.

Multicriteria analysis in shipping investment evaluation
Maritime Policy & Management, 2012This paper discusses the needs and possibilities of widening the traditional perspective through which shipping investment decisions are taken by embedding them in a multicriteria environment. The set off point has been the frequent observation that a shipping decision maker (DM) faced with ship investment decision-making is influenced by factors that ...

Site search and multicriteria evaluation
Planning Outlook, 1991Abstract Geographic information systems (GIS) are potentially powerful collections of tools which planners can use in the manipulation and analysis of spatial information. One traditional area of interest in this context is site search. Here, the functionality of GIS is, however, limited to certain deterministic analyses which serve merely as a ...

Qualitative multicriteria evaluation for environmental management
Ecological Economics, 1994One of the main differences among evaluation models is between monetary and non-monetary evaluation. Cost-benefit analysis and cost-effectiveness analysis are well-known examples of a monetary evaluation. In the past decades the degraded state of the natural environment has become a key issue, and it is increasingly taken for granted that environmental
