Collecting and analyzing data in multidimensional scaling experiments: A guide for psychologists using SPSS [PDF]

open access: yesTutorials in Quantitative Methods for Psychology, 2006
This paper aims at providing a quick and simple guide to using a multidimensional scaling procedure to analyze experimental data. First, the operations of data collection and preparation are described.

Multidimensional Scaling on Multiple Input Distance Matrices [PDF]

open access: yesAAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2016
Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) is a classic technique that seeks vectorial representations for data points, given the pairwise distances between them.

Multidimensional scaling of diffuse gliomas: application to the 2016 World Health Organization classification system with prognostically relevant molecular subtype discovery

open access: yesActa Neuropathologica Communications, 2017
Recent updating of the World Health Organization (WHO) classification of central nervous system (CNS) tumors in 2016 demonstrates the first organized effort to restructure brain tumor classification by incorporating histomorphologic features with ...

A Clustering Perspective of the Collatz Conjecture

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
This manuscript focuses on one of the most famous open problems in mathematics, namely the Collatz conjecture. The first part of the paper is devoted to describe the problem, providing a historical introduction to it, as well as giving some intuitive ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.
