Fungal Community Composition Varies Across Floral and Extrafloral Nectaries

open access: yesJournal of Basic Microbiology, Volume 66, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Floral (FNs) and extrafloral nectaries (EFNs) are key plant microhabitats that mediate interactions among plants, insects, and microorganisms, yet their associated fungal communities remain poorly characterized, especially in tropical ecosystems.

Salinity, turbidity, and chlorophyll drive zooplankton succession in a temperate estuary under anthropogenic pressure

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 71, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Estuarine zooplankton are vital primary consumers and essential for estuarine ecosystem functioning and productivity, but they face strong physico‐biochemical gradients and often anthropogenically altered habitats that impact their succession.

Efficacy and Efficiency of an Atmospheric Pressure Dielectric Barrier Discharge Reactor (GAPS) for Air Disinfection

open access: yesPlasma Processes and Polymers, Volume 23, Issue 8, August 2026.
A Grid‐like Air Plasma Sanitiser has been tested for the inactivation of airborne pathogens. This reactor demonstrates a 4.5 and 2.5‐log reduction in aerosolized E. coli and SARS‐CoV‐2, respectively. This device shows an energy efficiency per order index, 2 orders of magnitude lower than values reported for comparable plasma‐based systems.

Alloy‐Type Anode Materials for Sodium‐Ion Batteries: From Single Metals to MultiComponent Alloys

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) are widely regarded as a promising alternative to lithium‐ion batteries due to their abundant sodium resources, broad geographical distribution, and low cost, rendering them particularly attractive for large‐scale energy storage applications.

A Robust, Low‐Cost Conductance Sensor for High Resolution Real‐Time Monitoring of Streambed Pore Water Dynamics

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract The groundwater—surface‐water interface is an important regulator of many biogeochemical processes along river corridors. One of the main drivers of these processes is the pore water travel time along hyporheic flow paths. However, our understanding and ability to predict the spatial‐temporal dynamics of subsurface travel times are limited ...
