Advances in Electroactive Liquid Crystal Elastomers for Intelligent Robotics and Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Electroactive liquid crystal elastomers (eLCEs) integrate molecular anisotropy with electrical functionality to enable programmable actuation and reconfigurable electronics. This review classifies eLCEs into robotic actuators and adaptive electronics, summarizes key actuation mechanisms, and highlights fabrication strategies that bridge materials to ...

The Effects of Various Dietary and Exercise Interventions on Continuously Measured Glucose Levels in People with Type 2 Diabetes, and Potential for Personalized Treatment

open access: yesProceedings
Introduction: Dietary and physical activity interventions have beneficials health effects for people with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Although the effects of such interventions on long-term changes in glucose levels are well studied in a controlled setting ...

Hierarchical Summary Statistics Encoding Across Primary Visual and Posterior Parietal Cortices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that mouse V1 simultaneously encodes the ensemble mean and variance of motion, providing a robust summary‐statistic representation that persists despite single‐neuron variability. These signals propagate to PPC, where they are transformed into abstract category representations during decision making.

A Multilevel Analysis of Innovation in Developing Countries [PDF]

open access: yes
Innovation is a multilevel phenomenon. Not only characteristics of firms but also environment within which firms operate matter. Although this has been for long recognized in the literature, a quantitative test that explicitly concerns the hypothesis ...

An Artificial Antibody‐Based Toolbox Accelerates Validation of Hidden Microproteins Encoded by the Dark Genome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microproteins are hidden treasures encoded by the “dark proteome” but remain largely underexplored due to the lack of highly efficient tools. We developed a molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs)‐based toolbox (CLAIMID) to achieve accelerated and ultrasensitive microproteins validation at multiple biological scales (single living cells, cell populations,

Bifidobacterium Pseudolongum‐Derived Acetate Attenuates Acute Pancreatitis Through GPR43‐Mediated Suppression of M1 Macrophage Polarization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The severity of acute pancreatitis (AP) is linked to reduced abundance of Bifidobacterium pseudolongum (B. pseudolongum). Administration of B. pseudolongum or its key metabolite acetate alleviates pancreatic and systemic inflammation by suppressing M1 macrophage polarization.

Location, Internationalization and Performance of Firms in Italy: a Multilevel Approach [PDF]

open access: yes
Competition is increasingly crossing borders. However, location still matters: the most successful competitors in an industry often cluster in the same geographic areas and companies use the advantages of location to compete at a global level.

An investigation into the effectiveness of simulation-extrapolation for correcting measurement error-induced bias in multilevel models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Master's Project (M.S) University of Alaska Fairbanks, 2015This paper is an investigation into correcting the bias introduced by measurement errors into multilevel models. The proposed method for this correction is simulation-extrapolation (SIMEX).
