Improved Multilevel Monte Carlo Convergence using the Milstein Scheme [PDF]
In this paper we show that the Milstein scheme can be used to improve the convergence of the multilevel Monte Carlo method for scalar stochastic differential equations. Numerical results for Asian, lookback, barrier and digital options demonstrate that the computational cost to achieve a root-mean-square error of e is reduced to O(e -2).

Topics as Outcomes: Modeling the Influence of Intergovernmental Grants on Policy Diffusion
ABSTRACT Intergovernmental grants stimulate the diffusion of policy reforms, as the federal government provides states with a financial incentive to adopt policies aligned with federal priorities. Less is known about the extent to which these grants also stimulate horizontal diffusion across states.

COVARIANCE ESTIMATION USING h-STATISTICS IN MONTE CARLO AND MULTILEVEL MONTE CARLO METHODS
We present novel Monte Carlo (MC) and multilevel Monte Carlo (MLMC) methods to determine the unbiased covariance of random variables using h-statistics. The advantage of this procedure lies in the unbiased construction of the estimator's mean square error in a closed form. This is in contrast to conventional MC and MLMC covariance estimators, which are

ABSTRACT We perform bibliometric analysis on documents for 255 Regulatory Impact Analyzes (RIAs) prepared by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from 1980 through 2024. Using a series of automated information extraction methods, we extract references from these documents and match them to bibliographic records.

Overview of the TRIPOLI-4 Monte Carlo code, version 12
In this paper we present an overview of the recent advances of the general-purpose Monte Carlo code TRIPOLI-4®, developed at CEA. The features described in this work, which refer to the current version 12 of the code, encompass applications to radiation ...

Proprioceptive integration in motor control
Abstract figure legend A virtual reality (VR)‐based reaching task reveals how proprioceptive feedback affects the perceived and actual movement speed of active movements, as well as the perceived hand position. When an antagonist vibration was applied, subjects tended to overestimate their movement speed while also decreasing their actual movement ...

ABSTRACT Background and Aims Food banks play a major role in the food aid sector by distributing donated and purchased groceries directly to food‐insecure families, which helps reduce food insecurity. On the other hand, school meal programs are implemented in many countries to combat food insecurity among school‐aged children.

A Longitudinal Mediation Analysis of Quality of Life After Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery
ABSTRACT Background and Aim Severe obesity is associated with physical comorbidity and impaired health‐related quality of life (HRQoL). Although metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) is generally associated with improvements in HRQoL and mental health, inter‐individual variability is substantial, and the functional mechanisms through which preoperative

ABSTRACT This review examines the application of machine learning (ML) in physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling through improved prediction of input parameters, particularly via quantitative structure–activity relationship (QSAR) models, for absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) properties across drug development ...
