Degree theory for 4‐dimensional asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
Abstract We develop a new degree theory for 4‐dimensional, asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons. Our theory implies the existence of gradient expanding solitons that are asymptotic to any given cone over S3$S^3$ with non‐negative scalar curvature. We also obtain a similar existence result for cones whose link is diffeomorphic to S3/Γ$S^3/\

Completely continuous multilinear mappings on 𝐿₁

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, Series B
A useful result of H. Rosenthal and J. Bourgain states that, given a Banach space X X , an operator T : L 1 [ 0 , 1 ] → X T:L_1[0,1]\to X is completely continuous if and only if its composition with the natural inclusion

Multilinear Maps from Obfuscation

open access: yes, 2015
We provide constructions of multilinear groups equipped with natural hard problems from indistinguishability obfuscation, homomorphic encryption, and NIZKs. This complements known results on the constructions of indistinguishability obfuscators from multilinear maps in the reverse direction. We provide two distinct, but closely related constructions

Behavior of Long‐Slotted Perforated Steel Plate Fuses in Timber Brace End Connections

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Steel perforated plate fuses have emerged as a promising solution for mass timber seismic force‐resisting systems, offering tunable energy dissipation mechanisms, such as flexural and shear yielding, through geometric adjustments. This study examines the cyclic performance of perforated steel plate fuses employed in timber braced frames, with ...

Tensor and Matrix Inversions with Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Higher order tensor inversion is possible for even order. We have shown that a tensor group endowed with the Einstein (contracted) product is isomorphic to the general linear group of degree $n$.

A generalisation of Nash's theorem with higher-order functionals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The recent theory of sequential games and selection functions by Mar- tin Escardo and Paulo Oliva is extended to games in which players move simultaneously.

Using generalized quantitative structure–property relationship (QSPR) models to predict host cell protein retention in ion‐exchange chromatography

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Selecting an optimal chromatography resin during biopharmaceutical downstream process development is a great challenge. This is especially the case for recombinant subunit vaccines, where product properties vary greatly and recovery often involves cell lysis, which yields a complex mixture of different host cell materials. Host cell

The relationship between seasonal mean temperature and most extreme day

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
In Northern Hemisphere winter, there is a strong correlation between seasonal mean temperature and coldest daily mean temperature which varies in magnitude from one region to another (with a weaker relationship in summer between mean and hottest day).

Fitting of mechanical material behaviour of structural steel for numerical modelling

open access: yesSteel Construction, EarlyView.
Abstract Numerical simulations are widely used in structural engineering research, and validated models enable the efficient expansion of datasets without costly additional testing. They allow the investigation of alternative geometries and loading scenarios beyond those covered by experiments.

The quantum group of a preregular multilinear form

open access: yes, 2012
We describe the universal quantum group preserving a preregular multilinear form, by means of an explicit finite presentation of the corresponding Hopf algebra.Comment: 17 pages - Ref.
