An Ecological Inquiry on Young People’s Suicidal Ideation at University: Individual, Relational and Cultural Factors and Their Interactions

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Investigation in Health, Psychology and Education, 2023
To understand the factors related to suicidal ideation in university students, we examined individual and microsystemic variables with an ecological model organizing bidirectional influences between different dimensions.

Diagnosing the 11‐year solar cycle's influence on the East Atlantic pattern

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
A previously unidentified solar‐cycle response in the East Atlantic pattern is found in late winter at lag +3 years with larger amplitude than the NAO response. A statistically significant NAO response to the solar cycle is seen in late winter at lag 0 years.

Visibility Constrained Generative Model for Depth-based 3D Facial Pose Tracking

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, we propose a generative framework that unifies depth-based 3D facial pose tracking and face model adaptation on-the-fly, in the unconstrained scenarios with heavy occlusions and arbitrary facial expression variations.

Experimental and design‐oriented research on fiber reinforced concrete segmental tunnel linings: A systematic review

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract The use of fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) in precast tunnel segments is among the most established and representative applications of this material. Over the past two decades, numerous tunnel linings were constructed with partial or total substitution of conventional steel reinforcement by fibers, this yielding to quantifiable benefits in ...

Performance of DRNNAGE for macroscopic age‐at‐death estimation in contemporary Brazilian identified skeletons

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract In global forensic literature, methods for estimating age in young individuals are more commonly addressed than those applicable to adults. This trend is also evident in Brazil. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of the DRNNAGE software for age estimation in Brazilian identified human skeletons. The sample consisted of 400 skeletons (

Radical Scavenging Activity: DFT and Multilinear Regression Studies of Benzofuran-1,3-thiazolidin-4-one Derivatives

open access: yesActa Chimica Slovenica
The free radical scavenging activity of benzofuran Schiff base and thiazolidinone derivatives has been investigated using the density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Three primary mechanisms were developed: sequential proton loss electron transfer

Independent component analysis for tensor-valued data

open access: yes, 2017
In preprocessing tensor-valued data, e.g. images and videos, a common procedure is to vectorize the observations and subject the resulting vectors to one of the many methods used for independent component analysis (ICA).
